Myrkur is... ok. Tbh the amateurish quality drumming makes it hard for me to listen to her.

I've been listening to a bit and wasn't sure how I feel about it. Some songs I like, some not so much.

Doesn't sound that amateurish to me, not for black metal, the thing is that modern drumming is reaching drum machine levels.

Her first EP had drum flubs all over the place.

Been meaning to jam the new stuff. I'm digging some of the ambient folky shit she's been doing but an yet to jam the new album.

Dunno, I'd probably be all in if she'd leave the folky shit out. Too many sings, not enough screams.
I do like the brutal ambience in a lot of her songs, though. I'll be listenin', thinkin' "mhm mhm". Then, when the song stops, and it's quiet, I'm like "FAHK".

Incidentally, a friend just tipped me off to Myrkur and the thing I like about what I've heard (which, admittedly, isn't all that much) is that there's a mix of singing and screaming. I get fatigue listening to ALWAYS ALL SCREAMS WHITE NOISE VOCALS, so I enjoy the changeup...

I don't mind a little evil woods fairy. But, it pulls me out when I start feeling like I'm at a fuckin' Renaissance fair.

so the new Myrkur album is pretty good. Glad she found her own sound.
