A few years back I wanted to get a bright yellow/green/pink V because I love the cheesy look of the guitars used by hair metal bands, but ended up getting my Jaguar instead. Think I'm gonna have to end up getting a V now. Especially since I saw Mudfuzz's, and I've been thinking about the Squier bass vi. A V vi would be amazing I think... O__O

Thanks bud! I love V's for playing live, they are just comfortable and easy to throw around. Most of my guitars are SG or SG variants, and then a telemaster.

Here's a mid work pic I'll post some finished pics tonight.

what make is it?

It's and epiphone jeff waters annhilator V that I picked up off eBay for dirt cheap cause it was damaged in shipping. It's my touring / beat the shit out of it live / pickup tester guitar. Here's some old pic's of it with different pickups and pics of it after the current pickups and setup.

Back in the day with Gibson Iommi's:

It with GFS mean90's (they sounded really good in this guitar):

And some shitty angled pics I took of it tonight with the new Epiphone (Sam Sung) low output humbuckers:

Yeah, they seem like they would be great for that. Had one SG copy at some point that I made into a fretless and it was pretty awesome, but have never liked the way SGs feel on me enough to use one as a main guitar. :/

A fretless SG? Sounds like fun for an open tuning and a slide! They definitely aren't for everyone, like the V they tend to have quite a bit of neck dive which drives some people nuts. I mainly like the fret access, shape (as far as the edges and stuff for comfort and playability) and the tone. Their beefy without being too thick, I love les paul's but I usually find their neck pickups too muddy due to the heft the body adds.

I got that project Strat up and running, and fuck me if it doesn't play awesome and sound fucking fantastic. Not really sure what to do now, as I was going to just flip it for a profit but I'm sort of rethinking that now. I don't even really like strats that much, but now I have two of the damn things. :picard:

It was amazing. It's a shame that my clumsiness ended it (I fell on it one day and destroyed the neck) because it was a lot of fun. Had it tuned to some Soundgarden tuning iirc. It's not really the neck dive with SGs, it's the body shape itself. Feels way too small on me and I'm not even a big guy or anything. :/

And my experience with Vs is fairly limited, but I wouldn't have thought that there would be a neck dive issue. I would have thought the extra weight towards the butt end of the guitar would work out a bit like on jaguars/jazzmasters. Neck dive wouldn't be an issue because my fretting hand never really moves away from the guitar, so that doesn't bother me too much.

If you do decide to sell it, get at me. Maybe we could work something out. Been awhile since I had a strat.

No Malmsteen influence here, this is straight up lục huyền cầm style. Strung with 9s and tuned to B standard so the pitch bends when ya press down into the scalloped parts. I wanted to still be able to kinda play chords so I left the bottom two string areas normal. I actually really like how the teeny tiny strings rattle against the frets, kinda like slapping an acoustic around.
You should have seen how I scalloped the board, it was cringe-worthy.
I clamped it to a table and went to town with a router, freehand...then it was "delicate" Dremel action. I actually knocked off little chunks on a couple of fret wires but they don't seem to have been crucial string contact sections so it's okay

Awesome! I bumped in one of those video's on youtube too once. Have been meaning to do something like that since then. Most important: how does it sound with fuzz?

Bravo to you for having the balls to freehand that job with router and Dremel. That's crazy. Turned out really nice tho, I'd love to play that thing and see what it's all about.

ACHTANE!!!!! You rule dude. That is awesome...

Here's a vong co video I found with reverb. Sounds awesome.

Also, emailed back and forth with these guys a little bit about getting a guitar when I was vong co obsessed a year or two ago. They seemed happy to accommodate. http://www.saigonstrings.com/vongco.htm
