Australia has no charge unless it's declared over $1000 I believe in case anyone is worried (I think)

Dear Mr. Santana of mine.
Norway: Anything over $41 (with the current currency...hehe) will be charged with 25% taxes on both the item and the shipping cost, plus another $20 in customs fees. So either put it down as a low value item (broken, for repair, etc) or do as EA said; gift wrap that shit and it should be fine.

I'm probably the only person living in Japan in this thing so what I say applies to me only
. I think the international gear packages I received (not from shops) has a smaller amount declared, and when I've sent pedals/modules it was with a smaller amount too. The Japanese post is safe as fuck, so once something arrives here it's fine. I've had no issue sending/receiving packages to/from the US and the UK for example but after that it might depend on the country.
One thing to note for everybody : do not write a description that makes the package look too interesting. Something boring/technical like "electronic parts", etc. might be a good insurance if you don't trust the postal service much.

But I always write Super Awesome Fun Time package on anything I mail out.
Also, Japan is awesome as hell, I need to make it out there now that I'm old enough to really appreciate it.

I trust the postal service in the United States to a point, like I've never had anything stolen from the Post, but I'm not so sure about other countries just because I have no clue how it works there.
I always declare every item individually and have never had an issue. I've shipped to Japan a few times as well and no issues. I just wonder if they did open your box, and you didn't disclose everything, what would they do? Would they keep your shit? Serious question.
I think I'm going to go the insured and tracked route. I'm sorry SS. I have too. The amount of money I spent is a bit obscene and everyone will most likely know who my SS is after they show their gifts. LOL. I actually might write a love letter anyway. Maybe put a few sexy pictures of myself in there.
In fact, I might do that to the lot of you since I have all your address from last year. hahahaha.

That assumes none of us have moved. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, of course.

Re: ILF Secret Santa 2015 (GET TO STALKIN)
It probably depends on the country and its regulations. Most countries have strict regulations for organic materials (plants, seeds, obviously animals), and dangerous materials, which makes sense. Beyond that it's mostly economic regulations. I know that importing leather goods for example means much higher import taxes here for some reason (I don't care anyway, I'm vegetarianjwar wrote:I trust the postal service in the United States to a point, like I've never had anything stolen from the Post, but I'm not so sure about other countries just because I have no clue how it works there.

In most countries, if a package gets opened and the contents are not forbidden but there are tax issues then the recipient will likely have to pay to compensate it. But the chances of something being opened if it doesn't look like a bomb or radioactive material through scanners and doesn't make drug dogs all excited is probably super low.

What about we start a thread where we can post country specific guidelines covering the most common questions:
Country name
Alcohol ok?
Food ok?
Declaration on package - guidelines?
Other shit worth noting for a Santana.
None of the above should be personal rather something applicable to all duders

You're not gonna have trouble with the post in the EU. For example, France is the best in terms of safe parcels delivery, but we get a bad rep because the national post service sucks at next day delivery. Countries where it can get shitty are not represented amongst the participants. My experiences with Germany, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, UK, Italy, Spain have always been pleasant. My experiences with Norway, Switzerland and Australia have always been pleasant as welljwar wrote:oscillateur wrote:I'm probably the only person living in Japan in this thing so what I say applies to me only. Re: ILF Secret Santa 2015 (GET TO STALKIN)
LEGIT INFO THAT MIGHT HELP
I have done this while trading with people from overseas without any financial transaction happening. It worked every time
if possible, get one of those see-through envelopes people put invoices in. Instead of an invoice, put in a signed declaration, saying something like
"I <name, address> hereby declare that the value declared on the customs form is only for the purpose of insurance. The package is a christmas present and no financial transaction took place between the sender and the recipient. <name, date, place, signature>"
this is a legit thing they actually asked for at customs office both times from me. They released the packages after receiving this declaration

Ahhhh, just had a great pedal idea. Seems a little early to buy because I could certainly stalking, but also it's a good idea... Guess I can switch my stalking priorities to other stuff and see if I keep liking the pedal idea.
