I love coffee! Mostly make espresso with a machine but also use a cafetiere. Got an electric burr grinder and a vintage Peugeot hand grinder that I use for the coarser grind. Been enjoying south American single origins recently.

Went to Berlin a few weeks ago and the coffee scene there is brilliant, had some fantastic coffees all week.

My brother just went to Berlin for work. I should have gone instead of him per our different interests. Amazing coffee scene and currently the techno capital of the world. Such is life.

So which of you coffee nerds are the ones who like that sour shit? So far all the coffee nerds I've met in real life have painstakingly prepared me a cup of hot battery acid that I had to sip on a few times before I "forget" about it.
My first and worst experience with this was at Earthquaker's NAMM booth. they had a fucking guy there (nice guy, to be sure) slowly making cups of coffee all day. Wow, must be good, I thought. NOPE. HOLY FUCK NOPE. It was like someone watered down coffee flavored coffee and then added kool aid concentrate powder. Or maybe like someone made a hot lemonade, forgot the sugar, and added like a half shot of coffee.

related trivia: I do not like IPAs, because they taste like grandma perfume. I'm pretty much kicked out of hipster beverage town.

The nitro coffee I get is basically like drinking Guinness without alcohol.

Some nights I go to bed looking forward to the next day so I can have my first cup/can of coffee. Good times.

If anyone knows some weird stuff let me know. I love trying new coffees.

Around here the hipster stuff is the exact opposite. Sour beers are the rage and South American coffee, which is often a little richer and smoother than African. I think it's the result of being in the hometown of Russian river, lagunitas, and bear republic, all of which built their name on IPAs.

Nitro coffee is funny. We have it at my work. It's decent, but I'll take an iced americano over it every time.

I just tried making cold brew, meaning, I set it up yesterday and had some when I woke up a couple of hours ago. I'm kinda dissapointed, as it really just tastes like cold coffee and not in a good way. It does seem quite potent though, as just one cup had me pretty wired. I'm gonna try it again, cause drinking hot stuff usually gives me headaches if I've slept for too long. Should also probably try a better blend for it.

The only blend I've ever really loved is Mocha Java (and most Mocha Javas aren't even true Mocha Javas).
