lol. i'm not enjoying it that much but there's still some good stuff on there occasionally. but if i DID get where i was done with it, dunno if i could roll Pimp Hard enough to adopt a BURRRRRRRRRN YOU MOTHERFUCKER BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRN exit strategy like Jefe up there.
first GTG i went to was a lot of fun. second was..... kinda boring. only three people i enjoyed seeing, and two of them i see on a semi-regular bass anyhoo. skipped the third one that was kinda in my 'hood.

Yeah, I've gone to the New England one like 4 times. There are definitely quite a few TB tools there, but a couple cool guys. I usually just hang out with Bryan Tyler, and I got jrmy to come once too. And it's nice to be able to play around with some $3-4K basses.

I never get why everyone over at talkbass always pulls that shit about a bassist needing 500 watts or some dumb shit to keep up with a 100 watt guitar player. That makes no sense at all. My guitarist and I are both playing 100 watt amps with similar sized cabs, and you know what, our volumes balance great. So I don't know why everyone over there always wants a thousand fucking watts or some dumb thing.
I think it has to do with them guys barely touching their bass strings when they play.
I use a pick and my "compressor" is "hit every note, chord, klang as hard as you can" My other "compressor" is diiirt! I have an MTI SVT and I will be modding it to switch from 300/200/100 watts. So many of those TB dudes are all about headroom and that's fine w me but dirty and low is the place I go.
One of these days I may video my picking hand (out of curiosity) to see how hard I'm hitting the strings. Part of me thinks I'm not hitting them as hard as I think I am.
There's a fucking Reeves in the TB classifieds and all you guys want to talk about is TB gtgs and hard/soft plucking?
FOR SHAME!!!!
To me, talking about a owning a Reeves is just like discussing getting road head from Adriana Lima while driving Ferrari. I have about the same chances of being able to accomplish either task.

How many strings/picks/fingers are you breaking? Do you draw blood at very gig?
yah. i don't mash my shit. i'm not the gentlest, but i try to stay kinda controlled. when i get excited live i hit pretty hard, but it wears me out and i get sloppy. i do better if i keep it pretty even.
like, i get tired enough that my dynamics go to POO. everything's hard and sloppy.
urm. yah.

Zero But I never thought I played very hard. Just not light.

Hell yeah fuck that headroom crap. I'm not playing fusion jazz. Even if I was it would be DUUUUURRRTTYYYY. Oh yeah if 100w head can't keep up with your guitarist add more speakers not more watts. Watts are moot.
