Thanks fellas! I wouldn't have thought that a pickguard would have changed things so much, and it might be a placebo, but it just seems like A) most of the hum is gone (thanks to the aluminum) B) the overall tone of the guitar seems a little bit brighter as well.

A = more shielding less hum (but you all ready knew that)

B = no more hum means no more masking of high end frequencies, which is being perceived as a brighter tone, when in fact it just restored what was all ready there.
