Yeah since the forums been down I'm almost done with the big five string flying V bass I've been building, should have it playing tomorrow.

It's definitely the most thought out pedalboard I have produced. It took me a few hours (over the course of two days,...between taking breaks to take the wife on errands and shit) and two trips to the local mom and pop guitar shop to source George L's plugs and wires. I also had to experiment a little with two random pedals I had laying about and the LS-2 to make sure I had the loops wired up right. I have yet to scratch the surface of exploration on this board,...but in incarnations past I've always gone Shiva->MuRF for drone type/noise generator,...having the MuRF in the feedback loop is that much more insanity. I'm pretty excited about how expressive and musical this pedalboard is.

Am I seeing things, or is there an "Electric Guitar" subforum here now? When do bassists get their own forums?

urm... are you saying actual George L's? or that you found identical style non Georgies? 'cause if you gits tiny little headed soldered cable sources, PLEASE TO GIMME.

I'm saying I can buy George L's plugs and cable from a local shop instead of having to order online. Hella convenient (cept that they are closed on Sundays) and they are closer than Guitar Center and locally owned which is not at all like Guitar Center.

If I could find plugs that were as discreet as George L's and I could solder up my own cable lengths I'd be all over it,...but for what it's worth,...I have had plenty of success with George L's and my signal is hella quiet and hella crisp (probably helps that I have buffers at the beginning and end of my signal path) and that my compy is close to the beginning of my main loop. instead of at the end.

i like the IDEAS of the tiny heads. i'm just scared as butts in a field of non-soldered cables. i know loads of people have success with 'em, but i had a Planet Waves solder free pack and it was.... doubleungood BAD. blegh.

plus, MAN that's a lotta cashies invested in cables. if they sold the heads seperate so you could just pick up 50 feet of Canares to go with it, i'd probably at least TRY them.

Also,...George L's are nice cause once you have the plugs,...you have them/investment made. It sucks when you make the initial switchover on a large board and you need like 40 of them,...but once you are beyond that buy a pedal,...get two more plugs and maybe a foot or two of wire, Done.

Trust me I'd rather spend that money on other shit,...and I'm never as flush as I'd like to be (otherwise I'd have that toob amp),....The cable is like a buck 99 a foot,...which is not cheap,...but I get hooked up all over town; 6 plugs and 15 feet of cable worked out to around $38 and change,...compared to a four pack of just plugs direct from George L's that is at $31 (do they charge for shipping?)

This happens cause A) It's a small town and I'm cool like that/know what I want and what I'm looking for/don't waste time and

B) I refuse REFUSE to go to Guitard (sorry but the term is applicable in that place) Day Care Center and have my ears assaulted by wannabe Randy Rhodes knock offs just to buy a few patch cables (or anything else for that matter). One day ONE DAY I'd love to go into that place and hear some dude on a semihollow with flats on it playing some Pat Metheny,....WOULD IT KILL YOU KIDS TO HAVE SOME FUCKING TASTE INSTEAD OF WANTING TO THRASH ONLY.

I also know how to haggle but the guys at Mark's Guitar Shop are all solid and I didn't have to haggle. I feel like he essentially gave me the cable.

I just like to proselytize on the George L's. I get the feeling that they are somewhat frowned upon by cork sniffers and yeah,...sometimes it sucks to chase down that one that you didn't get right (it's always the last one you check),....which is why I test my board out before I zip tie everything up. Beyond that I've never had one fail and If you run your shit right,...there really isn't enough signal degradation or high end attenuation to loose sleep over. Custom cable lengths and small plugs means I can cram more onto a pedalboard and no limits on the signal chain as to what fits where. The pros outweigh the cons.

woof. i had like 16 pedals and a bypass looper on omy board. at $30 a 4 pack on heads that's be at LEAST $240. then cable IS pretty cheap. i love the tiny heads (giggety), but i think it was like $5 for a 10 or 15 pack of the Hosa pancake heads for sdering. soooooo.... at most $20 vs $250ish..... yikes. mebbe some day.

they ARE neat looking though.
