Had a bunch of dried chilis that were on the verge of going brittle, so I made an enormous chili sauce this weekend with them all. It came out awesome.

Me too, it's one of my favorite pantry staples! I'm going to use some to slather a whole chicken I impulse bought at $1/pound.

Man I love cramming an entire whole chicken in my electric roaster with carrots and potatoes. Fuck yeah

Right now I've got some cubed chicken stewing in a mixture of sauteed yellow bell pepper, onion, tomato, garlic, tomato paste, chicken stock, paprika, chili powder, thyme, oregano, bay leaves, and Spanish olives. Gonna serve that over some rice and with some green beans.

And tomorrow I'm gonna make a few wheat loaves for my Thanksgiving contribution on Thursday.

Picked up some pancetta without knowing what I was gonna do with it. My friend recommended making amatriciana sauce, which I did, and it was excellent. I have plenty of leftovers too!

I was starting to have issues with how they were addressing this until it got to the second half of the video:

I agree. The second half of that video drives home the two most important points:

1. Organic != healthier if you're still eating mostly snack foods and not getting enough vegetables, fruits, and whole grains
2. Locally-sourced > everything.

I try a lot more to shop seasonally from the UK more than I try to buy organic.

I do most of my grocery shopping at a shop where I think nearly everything is organic, but I shop there because most of the fruit and veg is locally sourced, not because it's organic!

I had 3-4 cups of this sauce in the freezer, so I pulled it out yesterday and braised a big hunk of bottom round beef with tomatoes and red, pink, and pinto beans.

Harissa chicken thighs, patatas bravas with a tomato-garlic aioli, and an arugula and roasted chickpea salad. All with feta and olives.

Patatas bravas are the sheeeeeeeit

The rest of that sounds super lovely as well. Tonight I made a quinoa/brown rice combo in the rice cooker, then some French green lentils w shallot vinaigrette that I’m gonna take to work for lunch. Plus cut up a papaya. So basically tomorrow = farts.
