I'm working with mark to do a custom Coven. So pumped. Can not come up with shit for a design for the outside of the pedal though. I have terrible designers/etchers block.

Was it you who owned a Loucks deathmonkey?
If so, gonna send you a PM to get some thoughts if you don't mind? Been considering that amp forever now, since I first saw Evan from Young Widows bringing down the motherfucking house with his a couple years back. Just saw those guys again Wednesday and after hearing that thing in action again and talking to him about his setup, I'm leaning hard towards a Loucks with some mods here and there...
Also, here's the gear pics from that show for anybody who may be interested.....
Evan's stuff. Look at that goddamn Headrush II. That thing has been busy!

Verellen Loucks and some little mystery Verellen head on top. Not sure if it's the preamp he's mentioned before or a stereo amp to send his signal to the cab on the other side of the stage. Talked to him awhile but didn't wanna be crazy invasive (see annoying

) in regards to his "tone secrets".

Rocking his trusty Tele, neck position only, as always.

The bridge pickup looks like it's been melted or destroyed by some tiny explosive device. Not sure it's even operational. No need for it, his tone is perfect as is.

Nick's stuff:

His Headrush, on the other hand, looks brand new. Old one must've finally taken a shit and died.

First Act RD. He said it was badass but he prefers his original Gibson RD, far and away. Something about it having janky electronics kept it off the road this tour tho...

Thank you Shannon!!!! I've wanted good pics of their pedal boards for a long time and their impossible to find. Their stage setup is brilliantly well thought out.

I Do own the Loucks. PM away. Mine is a bit different... it is in the small enclosure, which i believe is extra now, and has KT88s instead of the 6l6 or EL34 stock he puts in (I forget what)

Agreed YW is definitely one of my favorite current acts. The way they compose and put together songs is like nobody else.

I am weird with them... I like both coliseum and young widows less with each album. I love the first 2 young widows, and then they lost me. Coliseum I love live, but bore me on record. I have a weird thing with them and their recordings. Always feel like something is missing.

I haven't seen either band live but I love all the YW albums. Coliseum bores me to death on recordings, maybe I should try and see them if you say its much better live.
No problem, it wasn't easy. The link you posted couldnt be cut to work so I had to go in, go to sharing, get the share link, go to the that and then it fixed the link in the address bar that i could copy paste and cut of the &feature part.... whew.... So trying to do that probably would have made your brain hurt even more haha

No problemo! I've searched high and low myself and never find anything good. I've taken shitty phone pics at past shows but I brought the real camera along this time so I could finally get some definitive pics.

Absolutely!
I never even realized those dudes were brothers. Think it was you that brought it to my attention actually.

For sure. Kurt Ballou's production on Old Wounds was incredible too. Some live, some studio, just a big ol' mish-mash that turned out really cool. I'm thinking it was supposed to be all live originally but that wasn't working out. I love the end result tho!

Thanks man, I'll hit you up about the Loucks in a little while here. No rush or anything, just kinda gathering my thoughts and getting opinions right now. Some actual user info would be greatly appreciated. Was wondering about tube options too so good to hear you went a different route than the EL34s. Not my favorite tubes...
Also, thanks for the video, haha, that's a simple explanation for sure. I was staring at it that night like, "WFT happened to that poor pickup".

Agreed.
I saw 'em open for Mouth Of The Architect and These Arms Are Snakes years ago, Settle Down City era, and had no idea who they were. They TOTALLY stole the show tho, just killed it. Couldn't believe how loud they were for a 3-piece, had no clue about their live stereo setup back then. Oh, that was the first time I really saw Emperor's stuff too since YW was rocking that 6-piece column setup back then. Amazing show, really nice guys to boot, will never forget that one.
After that, I was super excited for Old Wounds and it delivered. A truly fantastic album that represents everything those guys excel at. Perfect imo. I was a die hard YW fan at this point in my life.
The new one has left me wanting tho, kinda boring. To be fair, I only listened to it a few times but it wasn't really catching on for me. Some good songs on there but as a whole I was unimpressed. Keep meaning to go back to it, like maybe I wasn't in the right head space when I first gave that album a spin and I'll grow to love it but it hasn't been a top priority.

Man so many good bands in here, just checked out Gholas, some rad stuff for sure!! Seriously if anyone comes through CA and needs a few dates filled I can almost always make shit happen in: Oakland/SF, San Jose, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Diego. I also follow the ethos of touring bands payed first and foremost and always try to figure out accommodations for the bands I book if my own place is not an option for the night. Also if you contact me at least 6 months in advance...there is the option of performing ATOP A FUCKING MOUNTAIN. Past Mountain Giants: Thou, Leech, Kayo Dot, Serial Hawk, Lake of Blood, Hallow. If any one is interested we are actually trying to put together an all day fest for July 29th and want to make it as heavy as possible. Rad thing about mountain shows is even with only a week or two promotion we always have 50+ people come out and most of the time either tons of merch is sold or people end up donating more than the standard $5 so you can make a good chunk of gas money in an area that has mostly been just passed through for the most part until my buddies and I started putting shit like this together a few years ago.
