Re: The Video Game thread
I felt particularly masochistic and reinstalled APB. I can't let it go. Still burns me up thinking about how great it was and should have been.
The developers fucking wrecked their launch and that was their grave. The game was sold to another company who turned it into a free-to-play/cash shop model and while they have (finally) been introducing good updates lately, there really hasn't been much new content. The game still only has the three maps that it launched with.
APB was AMAZING before Realtime Worlds went under. Great community, people cooperated and used voice chat, there was a subscription fee to filter out most of the 360 NOSCOPE shitters and Brazilians. There was a sense of teamwork during missions, now it's very loosely organized team play where the planets have to align correctly for a good player to appear. I don't even give a shit whether we win or lose, as long as there are either fun shenanigans or good communication. It's all about the scoreboard now. Not many people just screw around stacking dumptrucks on top of each other three high or anything like that anymore.
Still has the best customization system of any MMO though.
And at least I did have the opportunity to play with (and ram to death) this turbonerd kid in my group. those two were pinned by another player, all I did was free them

I got tattooed last week so haven't been able to play much guitar because I had my whole arm worked on.
Played a lot of Hearthstone as a consequence. Not too upset about it.

Great game. I don't play it nearly as much as I'd like, and I'm not nearly as far along as some of you folks, but...... how in the hell is the Covetous Demon a boss?
I've been destroyed wayyyy harder by small groups of lesser enemies.

The one I'm using is the dragon acolyte mask. Not sure what the other one is called, but they're both found in Aldia's Keep.

Mine is the Dragon Sage Hood, rare drop in Aldia's Keep, got it from the Giant Basilisk towards the entrance into the main corridor.MrNovember wrote:^^^What are those masks? I haven't seen anything like that in the game

Gahhhhhh! Fighting the urge to buy a used 360 so I can play this in a more legit way. I torrented it to try it out, and really want to be able to do some online play, but I don't know if I should just tweak up my computer, or buy a used 360 for the same cost...... Also, if I buy a 360 then I'll have to restart ALL OVER.

Re: The Video Game thread
What are the specs of the computer you're using? I'd say upgrade the PC, after trying DS1 on 360, I'll never play a Souls title on it. It was laggy and had a frame rate of maybe 7 FPS during boss fights or any part with particle effects. Plus the 360 is on it's way to be phased out (still probably not for another year or two at least though). Upgrading your PC would be a better investment and you won't have to worry about capped frame rate issues, you can just play on a nice smooth 60FPSgunslinger_burrito wrote:Gahhhhhh! Re: The Video Game thread
My computer runs it just fine, it just blows a LOT of hot air out while it's running. I turned up the chassis fan, and that seems to help it. I was mainly just thinking of buying a more recent graphics card. Interestingly, I read on the DS wiki that players who have a higher frame rate experience something strange. Apparently, when you roll, and an enemy hits you, the more frames you're running at means that their weapon "spends more time inside of you" and so you take more damage. Weird.
Off hand, is there a good way to deal with those asshole kamikaze mummies? They fuck me up reeeeal bad when they dive and explode or whatever.

Re: The Video Game thread
Yeah a more recent card with better cooling could help. Don't know about the frame rate thing but I've never had a problem with it. With those mummies I usually use a sword with some reach or the Black Knight Halberd and just stab them with my shield still up. They are frustrating though, especially in groups.gunslinger_burrito wrote:My computer runs it just fine, it just blows a LOT of hot air out while it's running. Re: The Video Game thread
I might just look into cooling in general. I found my graphics specs :
geforce gtx 460 (1 gig, I think)
Or I'll fuck with the overclocking and tweaking tools available.
I need to use halberds some more. Or spears, for that long and stabby action.
