Underoath are one of those bands whose music is so incredibly personal for me that I don't even talk about them, really, other than a quick recommendation or nod. Never a defense when dissed. You don't like them? Fine, that's your opinion. It's really cool! All that matters is that they're there for me. I have so much invested in that music emotionally.

In the documentary One Man Metal (2009), Xasthur says something like, "I don't wear black metal merch anymore and I don't wear corpse paint or grow my hair because I don't want people to know I'm into black metal. I just want to go to the grocery store, not talk about Darkthrone. When I say I hate people and want to be left alone, I really want to be left alone. I mean it."

Reminds me of my wife. Her favourite album of all time is Deja Entendu. There are few records that she even likes, let alone loves that much. She doesn't really go in for the other BN albums. She dislikes the band overall and never wants to see them live. She hates other Brand New fans and never wants to talk to them. She says, "It's so personal for me that I have to pretend it exists in a vacuum and leave it at that."

FYI, Deja is my second-favourite album of all time, eclipsed only by ...Is A Real Boy.

I have love for all four albums, but it goes Deja, Devil, YFW, Daisy. #SorryNotSorry, but if it makes you feel better, I do feel like Daisy is the most "Long Island" of all the albums, and that's never a bad thing. "Vices" could be a Glassjaw song. My biggest beef with Daisy is how shamelessly it mimics Modest Mouse's sound, most notably on "At The Bottom."

I am a late comer to Daisy. Devil was my favorite for the longest time. Daisy hits that sweet spot of being odd, like Devil, while having more energy overall.
For me, it's Daisy > Devil > Deja > YFW. Which is of no consequence because I also love all of them. Tommy Gun is a perfect song.

EDIT: Wasn't addressed to me, but I used to love the first half of that Maylene record. Riff fatigue always set in at a certain point.

I'm not an enormous fan of Periphery but I will say that their singer (periphery's) is the best thing that happened to From First To Last. Sonny Moore (Skrillex) sounded like a bag of smashed ass holes. Seriously tho Heroine was probably their WORST album

Did anyone here actually "LIKE" the new Saosin. I thought it was COMPLETE GARBAGE. Anthony Green certainly knows how to murder a perfectly good song.
