For a country that's regarded as uptight like the US, their border guards have been pleasant to deal with. I only got a expression from the one in LA when I told her I was there so see some NHL games.

the problem with most things like cops or customs or immigration (which me and the wife have to deal with sometimes) in the US is that it's just normal people, in a place of power to TOTALLY fuck your life up, on purpose or accident, operating under the weight of an insane amount of laws and rules and regulations.... often conflicting each other.

even good people do bad things occassionally. through laziness or misunderstanding or just having a bad day.

but sometimes they're awesome. it's a conundrum.

Yup, I think the US customs dudes take out their small dickedness on poodles. Those guys seem to be relatively pleasant to deal with. Even though one time I had to share my Haribo with one of them when I was going into country. And that shit questionaire where they ask if you are part of a terrorist organization...

It's just people doing their job, it's not their fault it's a shit job.

all the gov't forms have weird shit in them. somebody posted where they were interviewing for a controller (like a radio dispatcher) for a local police station, and the form had a line that said, "do you have an online profile with Facebook, Myspace, Twitter or any social networking website? what is your USERNAME AND PASSWORD?"
