Peavey Classic 400. It's been there for a bit, taunting me. The guy wants 600 and the crunch channel is dead, just changed his add to "semi firm" instead of "firm"
What say you o guru's of monstrous rigs and epic tone? I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it. bah, who am i kiddin

If I only had the money I just sent the 400 watt peavey dude a lowball offer with a long winded explanation of extra costs that thing would incur to get it up to speed. (8 6550's just for starters) I've got some gear out there on CL as well but even if it all sells I'd still be way short. I'm also looking at the need to buy a van, preferably one capable of moving under it's own power and keeping it's contents dry. You guys should snag that peavey and remove temptation

So in epic news that is both tits and pants simultaneously, sleep have just been added to the atp lineup in October. Awesome, as it is sleep in my country, finally. Shite, because it involves getting to Melbourne, and the general consensus is that that festival licks the balls. Do I hang for sideshows or nab a ticket? Dilemma.
Things that are awesome though: ticket to Om and about 3' of San Pedro. Fuck yeah.

Know there has to be more than a few of you here with much respect for a relic like this...figured i'd give you guys a heads up...Located at Loud and Clear Musical instruments in Cotati CA, '68 SG...same model and specs as Iommi's Monkey, albeit 3 years younger, $1800...just had to have the meathammer...
That sg is one face sex right there. Also, I know this goes back a few eons (pages) but that es2 is just about the coolest most star wars looking pedal I've ever seen. It's worth it just to pretend your hitting hyperspace. And I'm still stuck on a 1x15. If you were going to DIY that shit for guitar, would porting be important/beneficial/necessary? Or could you get away with a sealed cab?

I'll take a stab at that, by no means am I an expert on cab design but I believe that when you get into the larger speakers in a smaller cab the air behind the speaker actually can cause resistance on the movement of the speaker. this will cause a tighter crisper sound that may more precisely reproduce the sound sent to it. Porting a cabinet allows the air to move out of the cab, increasing volume and adding a more boomy sound. For the type of sound many of us are after this can be very desirable. You may want to line the cab with fiberglass or foam insulation. ensure whatever lining you use is porous or you are decreasing the cabinets overall volume. This is to defeat waves bouncing back at the speaker cone and counteracting the desired frequencies. you might want to look into folded horns and build something like that if you want a ton of low end. I'm a big fan of the sound you can get out of a cab like that.
