It's by far the best module from 2016. Really wish I didn't accidentally bork a second one (don't be drunk and solder) but I would gladly welcome AT LEAST 1 more in my case. I'm planning on building a full 12U studio case as my next big project, and will definitely build another O_C after.

Every mode in it is surprisingly useful in a billion ways.

You would be a fool not to have at least one in your case.

Thanks! I feel ya--I got one coming from a builder on muffs--but the more I look at it, the more I think I want like 3--I can't imagine not wanting to run the fab quantizer modes and the envelope stuff and the shift register modes all together andonandon--it's like a mega-parasite.

I like the looks of the temps utile too.

Did you have a lot of building experience before you started putting these eurorack modules together?

This was my first (working) SMD project. I have a bit of through-hole experience though so this was as good as ever to jump on the SMD train. (Either way, I only started soldering earlier this year) The only hard piece of this is the DAC since the pins are pretty close together, but a swipe of liquid flux and that makes it very easy to solder.

Building is a lot of fun/cathartic though, it's why I stuck with it.

's good to hear--thanks. I'm inclined to focus whatever nascent efforts I make in the time I have available towards eurorack diy stuff right now. Although, I may want to try my hand at some good kits first rather than freestylin' from a board and BOM.

Do I remember reading that you built a Befaco Rampage? If so--how was that? Also, maybe a 4MS kit could be good, like an RCD or something? I guess there's always those Synthrotek kits too--baby steps.... Even more than grande projeckts, though, what I really want to add right now is more slew, logic and utilities like scaling and offset....

Rampage was a nice build. I did a kit for that and was only missing one resistor. But it was a nice build since everything was documented very well. My first kits were the Rebel Technology Stoechia and Logoi, and it's nice the first time to have a build guide up next to you while you follow to make sure everything is going well. If you're looking for good kits, I've heard good stuff about the Noise Reap DIY, all easy and well documented builds. I know that Rebel Technology/Thonk stuff, and Befaco stuff are very well documented so those are good places to go for as well.

If you are going into DIY, the most important thing to have is a good soldering kit. Your shit is going to come out like shit if you're soldering with a shit iron. I started out with the Hakko FX-888D and it is a great set and is now my backup set because I wanted something with a hot air gun. It's also good to have a well-priced multimeter for troubleshooting. Don't get a cheap one, it'll just make you want to get a better one. I think paying in the $25-35 range for an OK multimeter is a worthwhile investment.

Yup, they do look sharp indeed, but not cheap. In Canadian dollars, the set of 20 came to $40. Here's the link;

Don't be afraid to try different op-amps in this either. In the end, I ended up going with a mix of OPA's and 072's.
