I prefer chef's knives to santuko's, but that's mostly because of familiarity.

So tired I can barely stay awake. Couldn't sleep last night. After lying in bed for an hour I got up and read half of a book.

warwick.hoy wrote:Not easy for me to compare cause I don't really use chef's knifes. All the house knives at work are dull as fuck (cheap NSF food service) chef's knives and I hate them all.

That said; I feel like a Santoku will do everything a chef's knife will do; with a few exceptions like cutting bigger items and that really just requires a bigger knife which chef's knives usually are.

I like the broad blade of the Santoku for picking food up. It works great for mincing herbs, garlic and shallots. I pretty much use my Shun for 95% of my tasks and the other 5% are tasks that would dull my knife,....and I'd rather do that with a shitty house knife

I like how compact the Santoku is without loosing it's functionality. I work in a pretty small kitchen, with a small line and having a sword for a knife just takes up space IMO. I try to be as organized and clean as possible on the line,...but that's not always easy to do if you are getting railed. A smaller knife is easier to deal with in tight spaces.

The only thing I really require of a knife is that it is sharp as fuck and will hold on edge well. Shuns do that and do that well. My knife is probably the sharpest in the house,....which is probably why the sound of it cutting my fingernail off hurt more than the actual cutting my fingernail off.

   *ssshhhhiiiiiiiinnnnnggggggg* (that's that blade sound)

Thanky for the blade review... all my knives at home are beat to shit, so it sounds like it's 8" Santoku time.

I was going to make a thread about "like" whores, but I figured bitching about it here would save imaginary internet space for more important things. First of all, FUCK. I really hate these guys. It doesn't even bother me most of the time, our society has devolved into nothing but social networking and "likes" will be our future currency, FINE. What I TRULY hate is when people whore out their band page. Because how many likes you have=how good your band is now. There's this little asshole (actually a good friend of mine, in real life, which is why I haven't just deleted him) that posts every other hour, BEGGING for all of his friends to "like" this band page. Not his friends page, not his, just a local band he likes WAY TOO MUCH. They have thousands of "likes", even though there's nothing on their page. Yet he still thinks they need more, and states this every time he posts.

Maybe I'm just upset that they have more "likes" then my band. They're just some little metal (fagcore) band, yet everybody in our community can't get off their dicks. Get this, one girl got a tattoo of their band name on her arm. A TATTOO. I know the guitarist, and he's told me they're going to break up as soon as their finished recording their first album. I can't wait to see the look on her face.

Anyway, it just kinda pisses me off. That's all the spite, hate, rage, apathy and irritation I have in me.

I'm predisposed to randomly getting nosebleeds, and I'm sick, so I've been taking Sudafed, which dries out your nasal membranes and raises your blood pressure, creating the perfect conditions to have a nosebleed. I have to keep blowing my nose so that I can breathe, but every other time I do so I get a nosebleed. I've been bleeding out of both sides of my nose all day, but I still needed to go to classes, so everyone probably thinks I'm a cokehead now.

I WENT TO SEE THIS GUY'S BAND PLAY. I AM INTERESTED IN HIM SO IN MY SOCIALLY AWKWARD AND SLIGHTLY (ACTUALLY PRETTY) DRUNKEN STATE I DECIDED TO TELL HIM HIS BAND WAS AWESOME THEN AWKWARDLY (MAYBE NOT SO AWKWARDLY) TALK WITH HIM ABOUT HIS AMP SETUP FOR LIKE THREE MINUTES. I FORGOT TO GIVE HIM MY NUMBER AND DIDN'T REALIZE UNTIL NOW WHEN I'M LIKE HERE, IN MY ROOM. in conclusion, i don't know how2boys.
