RedPanda wrote:Tensor V1.1 Firmware Update
We just released a firmware update with some new features that are accessible via USB MIDI or a remote footswitch:

Loop sampler functions (retrigger / stop / one shot)
31 presets via USB MIDI or remote switch
Expression pedal assignable to any knobs
Improved MIDI scaling for speed, time, and pitch
Kill dry mode (always mutes dry signal)

If you don't want to deal with MIDI, the Tensor now supports a 4-button remote switch with 4 modes:
Presets 1-4
Remote foot switches + presets 1-2
Loop sampler:
Record / overdub
Play / stop
Play once
Toggle time & pitch (tap),
toggle speed (double tap)
Toggle parameters
Toggle the speed, time, pitch, and random knobs on/off independently
It's also DIY friendly, if you prefer to build your own remote

That's huge. It makes the tensor my #1 choice for a looper.

Built up the 4-stomp switch last night, but my gf had my drill so I couldn't put it in an enclosure yet. But after a quick test it seems like everything in the DL4 mode works perfectly. My only complaint is that it's still hindered by the 4.8s loop length, while the real charm of the DL4 is that a lot more can fit in their stock 14/28 sec buffer than the Tensor's. Although I'll have to check how speed settings might change this tonight when the switches are actually boxed up. I hadn't expected any new Tensor firmware, but this is a godsend & really adds flexibility to what was already one of my most versatile pedals.

I've also got my fingers crossed that this schematic Red Panda provided also works as the Meris preset switch, I will certainly keep y'all posted if that is the case.

Have the updates fixed all the digital white noise, clipping, and clicks? Is it worth exploring again? Anyone still like it?

Yes, the updates addressed this. I still love it.

Yes that schematic works also for the Meris! I did build a preset switch for my Mercury7 following your notes (different resistor values), and it works!!
I've also posted the values here:

Probably my new fave pedal of all time. Love it.

I think I need to try one again because it sounded so trash when I tried it with the original firmware. Functionality was nice but it was so harsh tonally and off with all the crackling/white noise. Kind of the vibe I got with the first batch of the pitch delay they made where it was actually not in tune, lmao.

Yeah, later demos are sounding much better to me, and I think I finally developed a clue about it's functionality, so my reaction over time has morphed from ew to want.

I still like mine. It's not perfect (IMO) but it has a ton of flexibility in a tiny package and sounds great at what it does.

I haven't done the very latest update, but I did the earlier one that they said fixed all the clicks and stuff and I found there were still some remaining.

I wish they would add some quantized sections on the speed knob at the octave marks, so you can easily drop it to exactly -1, -2 octaves etc.

It has some other quirks and hasn't replaced my EHX 16SDD on my main board. I like the longer loop time on the EHX, and it also does clean overdubbing at altered speeds. When you overdub with modified speed on the Tensor it comes out in a very bitcrushed way. Sometimes that totally works. But I get more use out of the EHX approach. I do use the Tensor on my mini board though as I can get a lot of the same functionality in a much smaller footprint.

Is there a demo of somebody looping at the slowest speed on the Tensor--I'd like to get a better sense of just how crushed that sounds.... :snax:

So, does Red Panda not sell direct anymore? Does anyone know? All their stuff has been out of stock for like ever, so I was just curious. I'll hit them up as well, but thought I'd ask here first.

Yes, they sell direct. I think all of the Particle 2 orders you're seeing pop up on Reverb for $400 are products of direct ordering. If you want a Tensor, however, you will be waiting a while. I've been waiting 3 months on my Tensor order (through a dealership), and when dealers have gotten small quantities in, they immediately sell out on Reverb.

I posted this in the 2019 Releases thread, but its probably more relevant here:

That's fucked up. So, they probably don't cap their orders so that the vendors don't drop them. Surely there's some negotiating room there?

Also, big LOL at Half Live 3! hahahahaha

Man, that's too bad because the Red Panda folks are really good people. Seriously.
