Very cool! I like that I don’t recognize any of the parts you chose- putting together your own guitar is such a rabbit hole. That neck is cool!

Ordered a new roadcases pedalboard/case… this will be my 3rd 28x22 pedalcase… for me it’s the perfect size… this time round it’s for the general purpose fun board vs a band specific setup

Thanks! I am loving this guitar and I had fun getting the vision and parts together.

Here is a thread the goes over the parts selection, etc:

my battery hold quite well, never had such issues

i got the Stylophone Drone Synthesizer out today and started messing with it. it took awhile to get started due to power problems. i couldn’t get it to run off the Gator power supply which has 12V DC, and later found that i had the wrong cable; the SDS requires reverse polarity and i sure hope folks aren’t blowing theirs up trying to run on standard polarity. so i tried installing the included batteries, but the compartment cover is so tight when closed that i had to take the chassis out of the case in order to pry the cover off. maybe a bit too secure there, guys. eventually i got the batteries in, found the correct cable, and plugged it into the Roland line mixer in my rack.

it’s quite interesting…the two drone oscillators have a very wide tuning range and a number of waveforms, some of which are quite wacky. the main LFO can speed up or slow down the cycling which makes for a lot of different textures. the onboard reverb and delay are quite decent; the reverb runs off a PT2399 chip and the ‘verb off an Alesis AL3201 so they both sound great. it’s a deceptively simple little thing with the ability to go surprisingly deep. it’s going to be a little while before i get the keyboard controller which will allow me to play it like an instrument rather than as a tone generator. for now i’m having a hoot making it do odd droney synth things and playing over the top. at the moment i have it doing oceanic shit in the background, which is nice.

I always use the 90° plug in my first pedal when using my Stratocaster. :hobbes:

i now have the SDS running into the mixer and rack fx alongside the Behringer 606 clone. i found a way to set the SDS to a super-slow LFO speed (approximately 10.5 seconds per cycle!) and put waveforms on each oscillator that work backwards to one another, creating a two-note progression with bass notes that replace each other that covers eight bars of drum programming with each note respectively bending wildly up or down respectively at the end of its wave. i don't have time to record it now, but i'm leaving everything in place so i can come back to it and document what i did so i might have some possible hope of reproducing it. i'm literally leaving the power on and turning off the amp. that's what i did when i recorded "portneuf (version)"...the original track was still on the looper the next day and i decided to have a go. i guess i'll start a Miscellaneous playlist on Soundcloud for this sort of thing. yes, i have plugged the guitar in. yes, it works pretty well, but i need to try it with either the main board or the lo-fi board. i also plugged in the Mighty Casio as my friend Karen likes to call it and it works. i had some trouble finding useable sounds, though. the guitar and keys had to be very carefully massaged into the mix; they're both attack-heavy and will pin the compressor in a hot minute if you don't watch out. both would sound better with pedals, i think; the rack stuff doesn't seem to like guitars and keys much. the synth/drums sequence sounds really nice and really weird. i'll bet there's a ton of low-frequency synth content that needs the bass amp to bring it out...i tuned the oscillators down as low as i could while still keeping the synth audible.

the huge red Gator power supply i originally bought for the looping board turns out to be perfect as a tabletop PS...the size and weight that were a liability on a board make it hard to pull off the table by accident. it also supplies the 12V DC center-positive power the SDS requires via a polarity-flipping cable adapter. if only it did 9V AC for the HR-16 it'd cover pretty much everything i need to power in the rack context that isn't on the 120V power strip. it has 9/12/18V DC as well as 12V AC.

Well.. it’s been a while since I bought a fuzz that has a unique sound :thumb: It’s like a ilf builder or last gasp/masf modern-gated-crumbly-Velcro flavor mixed with a brassmaster… fun pedal :thumb:
