found a SPX900 on eBay for $150. it’ll take some time to recreate a new batch of presets but that’s part of the process.

That sounds really interesting. i can't help but think that its size/assumed bulk would make it unwieldy for use in standard standing/sitting playing position, though.

I ordered this rad as fuck clone of the Jimi Hendrix BOG Fuzz Face on reverb without realizing it was from the UK, now I might have to do a refund because shipping is becoming more expensive than the cost of the pedal.

Maybe this is a sign I should stay dedicated to my Black Math. Maybe I should just get a normal BOG fuzz face like I originally wanted to. Maybe I'll just get a Hizumitas again. Maybe I just have problems.

I have a Ferrous and it's an interesting device. It has a learning curve. Don't expect it to be just like a kind of an Ebow.

Otherwise after aeons, I decided to pull the trigger on a EAE Longsword and a Ezhi&Aka BROM! :animal:

With guitar mostly, but I had also interesting results with any kind of metal objects.

is it useable with the guitar in normal playing position, or does it lend itself more to tabletop prepared guitar stuff? it seems like that thing + a suitable open tuning = Bliss you don't have to Chase.

I lived in Japan for a year in 1984 and at the time my Japanese was not very good (and hasn't improved since), but while living there I did see a show on TV where some guys with long, teased out, bleach-orange rocker hair were demonstrating what looked like an E-Bow but it was made entirely out of silvery metal and then they were discussing how it worked and how the sound changed when they moved it over the pickups and then they pulled out this massively wide metal thing that was like an E-Bow that covered all six of the guitar's strings at the bridge.

I wish my Japanese had been better or that I had some video recording of this TV broadcast. I've never been able to find video proof that this actually happened and therefore have no subsequent confirmation that this is something that I actually saw.

But then again, I also haven't found anything on YouTube to confirm the existence of a soap-operatic TV show that I also watched while living in Japan called something like "The Blue-Eyed Sage," which was about a mixed-race young lady (with light skin and blue eyes) who was going to school and living in Japan.

Nor have I been able to confirm the existence of "Tissue Time," which was a variety/game-show, which screened late at night, that seemed to involve men conversing and joking with each other and then "Tissue Time" would begin and there would be extended shots of a nubile young woman bathing and a count-down clock on screen to indicate how much "Tissue Time" the viewer had to... vigorously provide self-consolation... to their genitals before the shot of the bathing beauty disappeared and the jokey-bros returned on-screen (by which point the genteel viewer had ideally put away their John-Thomas (or Kouki-Hiroto as the case may be) and respectfully disposed of their spent tissue as well as its contents lest their throbbing eyeballs be violated and physically assaulted by the visage of chummy males yukking it up while they were still engaged in a furtive act of vigorous self-consolation).

Sorry for the digression.

Squier actually came up with a way to make the Starcaster not look ugly. i might consider going back to that as my proposed platform for WRHBs. i still
might prefer the CV version because weird headstock, though i’d have to paint it which is far outside my level of expertise.

i’ve been researching Lexicon rack units…the MPX1 is like $350 now so that’s not practical. the MPX100, however, is cheap as chips, has a number of sounds i like in demos, and actually has better fidelity (20-20kHz) than the MPX1. it also has the Ambience algo from the big-boy Lexicon units which the MPX1 lacks. so that’s on the list. i’ll have to get a larger rack to fit so 8 units leaves me room for the second parametric EQ i’ll find for a sane price someday. i now have saved searches for “rane sp15” in the usual spots. turns out the parametric nobody wanted in 2006 is actually a very flexible, very good EQ. its successor, the PE15, duplicates the functions of the SP15 but runs off an AC adapter. and there’s a wheeled 8u rack on eBay for $109 with free shipping. i’m just waiting for the next pay cycle to roll around.

do you find that yours is SUPER thirsty on the included battery? after about 30 minutes messing with mine (not that long in terms of noisy drone jams) it stops getting up to speed properly.

SPX900 in Monday. writing presets should keep me busy until my next paycheck when i should be able to get the Lexicon and the 8u rack. if i had endless energy i could have had it today because it’s 45 miles away, but it’s worth the shipping not to have to spend 2.5 hours playing fetch on my days off.
