Well...

I've got a Lundgren M6, which I find a bit boring. It's competent, but nothing fancy.
Dimarzio Tonezone which is killer for a mid-focused sound.
Nelson single coil which is rad.
Alumitones which I don't dig at all - not enough output and it was hard to balance them with treble/bass and get a sound that worked clean and distorted, so these aren't in any guitar at the moment.
Stock Duncan Designed whatevers in my Jackson, which are surprisingly great.

I dunno, I just like the sound of an electric guitar with a bridge pickup - neck just doesn't sound right to me. But I don't like dark sounds on a guitar, and the neck feels too smooth. Not enough bite.
:idk:

I really want to try some Seymour Duncan Black winters - they seem pretty killer.

Thanks, I will check out the Tonezone, & stock Duncans (I played some sort of neon Jackson with those last week for a sec @ GC and it was  )...the Black Winters have been on my radar for a minute.
Does Nelson sell pickups too? I knew he made his own, but thought they were only available with his guitars.

...I should note, I'm a bit of a tourist when it comes to metal. Typically, I do not like neck pups for that sort of thing either though (for the same reasons mentioned).

Bobby is a bit random but he has been known to sell just the pickups.

Nelson pickups are super great though if he'll do some for you.

I could happily get by with one pickup but I also like having a neck pickup available. 3 feels pointless to me.

To be fair, 90% of everything I play is either palm mutes or pinch harmonics, but even clean I prefer bridge to neck - which would seem to put me in some sort of weird minority?

I like bridge 80% of the time clean or dirty but sometimes I want to be a bit mellower or do fun octave fuzz sounds that work better on the neck pickup. Middle position on my Nelson is a lovely balanced sound too.

I can't figure out what it was now, dang it. Had a guard (black I think), could drop bombs, set neck, and all sorts of neon options. Don't recall the pup configuration...Soloist maybe?

:thumb: Maybe I'll look into getting some from him some time. Would rather give my money to someone like that, than a large enterprise.

I don't know if they fit in a standard body route (could measure mine if you want) but they're my favorite pickups ever. Not that I've tried everything in the world

I'm with you. I have no use for neck pickups. Clean or dirty I always hate them. I disconnected the neck pickup in my main guitar. I had a problem accidentally hitting the selector switch when playing (same position on the guitar as an LP) and I hated it. So i disconnected the pickup and the switch.

I have a super sweet pointy guitar that I love playing, but never gets any use. It's got a bit of a mud problem. Maybe partially cause it's a neck through? I really want to find a bridge humbucker that'll make it sing, but not sure where to start. I'm pretty sure it's got a duncan distortion in it, which is my go to "when-in-doubt" pickup, but it's still too muddy to really use with a band. I'm not sure where to start, but I'd really like to use this thing. It plays like a dream, is super well made, and looks cool as fuck, and I'm not usually a pointy guitar guy.

I really play the bridge+neck sounds a lot (which frustrates me on my strat) so realistically I need 2 pickups wired for 3-way, even if I only use 1-2 sounds

It's super easy to add an extra switch to a strat to get neck+bridge sounds. I did it to my old guitar and it was one of the sounds I used most.

Which proves that the dual pickups configuration is best. This is a sound you get stock on telecasters!

I mostly use beck pickups for pretty specific stuff, usually very effected. But for standard guitar tones, I agree that bridge is best.
