def an astute observation

i find it interesting how each new generation of Generation Loss exhibits...loss. this is not a criticism of any of the changes over time by Tom whether in his own product or CBA/CB - i actually have come to appreciate it as a pretty cool thing. so, one thing that i haven't seen remarked upon a lot explicitly so far (and no, i haven't scoured the internet - yet) is the elephant in the room for me - sample rate reduction seems to have taken a back seat (or been kicked off the bus entirely (i still haven't figured out if it's somehow tucked into either saturation or failure, but i don't think it is). it's another move toward verisimilitude to the tape archetype i suppose. saturation makes more sense to our ears than SRR when we understand ourselves to be listening to "tape" degradation. i think it's a reasonable move, but it also leaves something behind (also builds in some retained value for buyers of the previous generations, which warms my little early adopter heart, although i have no reason to believe that was intended). i can def see some folks pulling back from the new deal for that reason alone tho.

nvm, adoi - it's right there on the pedlol  - you get the gen function SRR in classic mode

i gotta say, though, modeling and scientific study and completeness aside - having heard the selections on the model control demo'd now - that shit sounds good, and varied. and i like that the saturation varies per model.

still in the tempted, no deal category, but it stings a bit more now. and the loss of gen makes the move of selling the old to purchase the new just a little bit more of a conundrum...i may actually sell my Gen 1 Cooper and MkI CBA to move to this (even if its not the money wise choice at least i can console myself that it'd be two out, one in).

I am so tempted by the new Eastwood/Warren Ellis Ten Tenor:

I have a the Tenor 2P already and love it, but I am really drawn by the absolute simplicity of the Ten Tenor

I've been so good about avoiding all these super crazy expensive new pedals but the Gen Loss mkII got me. When I heard that the presales were going fast and likely would be shut down soon, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered. That overview video really sold me.

I'd love to check out a Habit too, but that one I am able to wait.

I'd love to have a stereo Generation Loss to revisit the soundtrack to
a film I made in 1997 called "Generation Loss".

Ironically I need to go back to either my 3/4-inch video copy or the 16mm filmstrip and
get new a higher-quality video transfer. All I have is an old 640x480 pixel transfer from years
ago.

Although I generated the footage by making copies of copies (re-recording things onto
3/4-inch, Hi8, VHS, and even a PixelVision video and Super8 and 16mm film as well as
using slide film and photocopiers), the version that I have on Vimeo is so crappy that
all the textures are blown out and lost.

Dammit.

I really thought I'd found a happy place where I didn't need to buy anything else, but now I'm #491 on the preorder list for the Gen Loss II.

My second time owning a Blooper is going much the same way as the first so I may well sell that to cover the cost.

The whole Generation Loss thing is wild, but I'm in no position to bite, since I bit on something else entirely :trippy:

Great to see the old Cooper boxes get liquidated at approaching-reasonable prices, finally! Even the new CB logo looks kinda perfect on the new Gen Loss, so every thorn has it's rose, etc.

As for some hard contrast, I also have a great affection for Idiotbox pedals, even if I still only have a few at the moment (shoutout 2 Static & Blower Boxes), but a preorder for their 3D Triple Delay is up and only $149! It even comes with 3D glasses!

In the realm of delay peds, it's the simplest jawn I've seen in years, so maybe that's a good thing? I kept thinking it'd need an order switch or something, but I do appreciate the meat + potatoes approach, and that anyone would ever go in that direction at this point in the game (RIP DBA Ghost Delay, you were too chaotic for this earth).

In 2019 I hand-painted and scratch-animated some Super8 footage that I shot in 1997.

In 2020 I got a video transfer of that footage. I just paired a little snippet of that footage
with some of the audio that I recorded in 1997 for my film "Generation Loss".

Some of the audio is from vinyl records, some is from a weird movie I videotaped off cable TV
some time in the 1980s. I've never found what movie it was from. Some of the audio is from
a Hi8 camera that I took to a Chucky Cheese arcade and to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
The carousel is from Santa Cruz.

Anyhow. The audio bounced between VHS and micro cassette tape before being compiled
on a friend's multitrack recorder. He had a rack effects unit in the same case as a 4-track
and so I used that to compile this garbled mess of sounds.

Wampler dropped a new multi-mode delay station today ($350). The most intriguing part is a $50 plugin version (free with hardware purchase). With so many companies using digital design platforms, I've been wondering when more of these crossovers would happen. (Neunaber, Eventide do this, too.) Of course, we're not seeing it yet from a company like BOSS or Fender, because it'd make too much sense for the largest companies to implement this first.

https://deafheaven.com/infinite-granite ... tion-pedal

Trying to make sense of this. It has the exact same product description as the Sky Fi but it says it was designed in collaboration with Deafheaven “to capture some of the audio magic” on Infinite Granite? Maybe I’m missing something, idk. It inspired me to look into the Sky Fi though and it sounds pretty cool lol

Yeah unless there's some undisclosed tweaks or something, it appears to be just the V1 Sky Fi, doesn't even have the red MultiJack they added to V2, let alone all the features of the Sky 5000... which has itself been discontinued and rolled into the Space Force, which is $20 cheaper than the Infinite Granite and readily available.
