“I don’t want them using our Internet to take our young, impressionable youth,” Trump said.

If it takes rationalization or logic or study of facts -really anything which isn't thoughtlessly accepted as " common sense"- it is a threat. The Conservative worldview requisites that there is constantly an "other" trying to impose their way or destroy the American way of life.

It's kind of like grandpa. He's getting really out there saying racist shit and making decisions that are harmful to himself and others and really can't take care of himself anymore. I think we should look for a nice home for all of the tea partiers where they can get the care they need because we have to be adults and don't have time to be a full-time caretaker.

I'd have to agree. It is time to put that way of thinking to pasture as its now reached planet threatening levels of dangerous.
Well, it's been there for quite some time really.

I've never understood the polarisation in the states between "conservative" thinking and "progressive" thinking, as though the notion of progress and trying to actually better the human experience is abhorrent.
I can't understand how most people don't see that as blatant ploy to preserve and protect the interests of the rich.

That is because Al Gore invented it and W' pulled it's pluralism out of the 4th diminution.

Is it bad that I hate Jeb Bush more than any other candidate simply because he's a Bush and I swear his mother is a donkey or some other farm animal. I watched his "squabble" with Trump from the other night and was like "wait this dude talks??? But he's been so silent and reserved or rather like a dumb bump on a log". Sigh. I'm not sure where to go with all this. I feel like there's not going to be a good outcome regardless of who wins at this point.

You are more than OK in your hate of Jeb Bush, he seems like such a slug.

I would agree, that this whole election looks like a complete dumpster fire.

Maybe democracy isn't all it's cracked up t to be :idk: :poke:

everyone's afraid our freedoms are eroding, but nobody is free anyway.

I think government is one of those things where there isn't a ton of middle ground
You either have a big one and they handle shit like they should
or you have none

It's just marketing. The best example of that is "pro-life," probably the best gimmick for a political position ever.

Now that's a sad fucking truth right there and I agree fully! I've seen many candidates over the years switch their position on this just to get more favor.

Is it scary that I think Marco Rubio is looking like the best Republican for the job?

Who do you people think is best qualified amongst Republicans?

and it sucks because nobody is really "pro-life"
Most of the hard core pro life people I know don't care if refugees die and turn their backs to most of the horrible things that happen to the world's children.

What they mean is "Pro - American preferably white- (but really more anti abortion)-life"
It's a longer title but more true

Probably Rubio,
The smarter republicans I know
(non redneck trump lovers)
All lean towards Rubio,
He seems the most qualified of the bunch
That doesn't seem to matter right now.

That's what I mean by marketing: if you're not pro-life, you're pro-death, right? That's the implied subtext, but to steal a Bill Hicks bit, no one's crossing arms and blocking cemeteries if they're pro life. It's an exclusive term: there's no ambiguity when someone says they're pro life, because "pro life' is only used to say that you're anti abortion.

Pro choice is cut from a similar cloth, but it's not quite as good.

Jeb Bush is probably the most qualified, insofar as he's got two immediate family members who have held the office. Viva Nepotism.
