Cool board! Thoughs on the RV3 vs RV2? I notice you're using the RV3 for reverb+delay; do you prefer the RV2 for straight reverb?

The Ibanez Delays are awesome, gritty sounding and with a ton of charachter.
The RV-2 RV-3 are similar in some ways
the plate sounds on both are awesome as are the delays
I can probaby do a head to head at some point
often I use em both for verb
I think the RV-2 is a better Pre-dirt Verb than the three maybe cause it has a little grit to it

question, what are those cool black clips holding down the pedals?

I know, I know, I even have a TU-3 already.

I just really prefer my Korg one (also have a turbo tuner on my other board). Another unexpected advantage to the Korg is I can rest my heel on the top of it while using the ramp function of the VB-2.

The clips are called Pedalocks and are designed specifically for holding down Boss pedals without velcro. I have each Pedalock secured with velcro, then just clip in and out the various Boss pedals when I need to change something; makes it really quick and easy.

The one complaint people have is that they're $10 a pop, but for me the $100 total was worth it for the ease of use on this board. I have all my favorite Boss pedals ready to go, and I find myself swapping them in and out frequently.

that is awesome, snapping in and out pedals is a cool idea
plus it preserves those stickers on the bottom if you are into that kind of thing

I'm not much of a BOSS fan, I'm afraid. The only two pedals that I like in their current line of pedals are the SD1 and the BD2. I like the SD1 cos it's a perfectly decent and very affordable overdrive, with the usual Boss ruggedness. Nothing modern by Boss ever seems to appeal to me. Sonically and conceptually, they don't seem to cut the mustard for me. There's so much else out there nowadays to choose from. Most of the Boss pedals that do appeal to me seem to be old stuff they haven't made for a while. I do have a few Boss pedals, including an HM2 (although I didn't buy it for metal), plus a DD6, GE7, DF2, TR2. I think that's it. I want to sell the DD6. I also have some cheap knock-offs of a few Boss pedals.

Long time ago I ripped the label of my 31 year old MIJ Octaver thanks to velcro and noobiness, I see the merit in those clips. Rad!!

Yep, it has the Analogman high-cut mod. Same mod he does for all Boss digital delays, which adds a three way toggle for stock/some high cut/more high cut. The cool thing is the mod affects not only the delay modes, but also the four delay+reverb modes. It makes a HUGE difference compared to the stock setting (which is still accessible btw via the toggle). With the high cut the repeats and the verb wash together for a beautiful ambient soup that sit nicely behind new notes.

I had an unmodded RV-3 that I always really dug, but having the Analogman modded one is just so much more versatile; very glad I took the plunge.

Boss are either really great or really terrible.

RIght now on my board, I have a DD-20 and an RC-2. Been considering switching the Giga Delay out for just a DD-3 or something, because I only ever use Dual delay for slapback and it takes up a lot of space. The RC-2 takes getting used to, but it's good fun. I also have a PS-3 (eBay score...only $150!) that I'm in love with; it's basically like three pedals in one, and you can get some cool Eventide-y/Rainbow Machine-y sounds out of Mode 7. Got an SD-1 in a trade the other day, and I'm really liking how that one sounds. Also wish I hadn't've sold my BF-2.

That said, the PH-3 might've been one of the worst pedals I've ever owned. Really sterile, digital sound, and the BIGGEST volume drop ever. Wasn't a fan of the CE-5 I had either. But then again, I think I just don't like chorus unless it's analog (which I don't think the CE-5 is). And, well, the DS-1 is the DS-1.

You gotta upgrade to the RC-3. I had the RC-2 for a couple of years, used it regularly, but many functions never became intuitive. The RC-3 on the other hand is waaaay easier to operate. I've filled many of the 99 save spots with backing tracks taken directly from my laptop. I highly recommend it!
