I'm getting this puppy ready to be placed on the market. But I felt she deserved to be shown in the "Let's see your GUITAR!" thread at least once in her life.
Just a standard Gibson Explorer. Basically my first "good" guitar. I found myself not even touching it once I got my Jag.
But it'll still sad to see her go.
I want one!! How does it compare in the Les Paul Traditional vs les paul faded vs les paul studio quality range?
Honestly, I haven't had enough experience with Les Pauls to really compare.

Your Les Paul is really the only one I've played

But yeah, explorers are super cool! But they're also super heavy

thanks for the input, Lads. I want an explorer very badly and only if they're one of the good Gibsons.

Also, rainbow strings

Nice mods, man! Does it bother you not having a "master tone", or do the low and high pass filters make up for it? I was considering doing a very similar circuit to a tele I just built, but didn't pull the trigger...
But yeah, that body style...I want.
I never really used the tone control on any of my guitars anyway so I certainly don't miss it. I just like the sound of the varitone tyle filters better than a normal tone control I guess!

Good to know. I'm pretty much the same with my tone controls. Never even touch them...The sound when they're pulled back just isn't my thing. I may have found next weekend's project

That's stupid sexy. Love it.
I've been really thinking that I want a Jazzmaster myself lately, but realistically I'd have to let this go to afford it:

But I don't think I could do it.

I'm at 3 electrics now, one being a potential sell or project
my warbeast since early 1997, a closeout sale 1996 SG Standard. I ate ramen for about 2 months after. It is tuned in C# or standard most of the time

I've had this next guitar a year or two and it is still kind of in project status. It is a 1972 electra 2242 super rock from japan. they were sued by gibson because its exactly like a 72' custom LP heh. Everything's original except the tuners. I love the neck pickup but the bridge pickup is weak (or I wreck the action cranking it up in height). was thinking perhaps of swapping the bridge pickup for something hotter, but that'd ruin the gold worn look :|
2 pics of this one with a closeup of its beautiful bindings,

and my 3rd and newest electric from 2012 which is probably my favorite at the moment. Found a sweet deal on CL for this mutant telecaster. It's a 06 usa hwy 1 body with a warmoth 10-16 compound neck (slims out noticeably around fret 12) and seymour duncan 59/jb pickups. the original owner routed the single coils out, put in graphtech saddles and vintage RI tuners (which i still hate btw, being a gibson guy for so long), 1 vol 2 tone knobs and a gibson 3 way switch, the whole works for $450. Since I've owned it, I had my favorite guitar shop re-wire the 2nd tone knob so I can pull it out for split coils, and had a warmoth pickguard put on there (which required some grinding to fit right but it is under the neck so who gives a shit). she might not be the prettiest thing ever but damn does it sounds good. obviously great with a lot fuzz or i wouldn't have boughten it!

Thanks, it was a custom build from Bill Scheltema @
http://www.canadianbreed.ca/This is my second from Bill, fantastic workmanship at a reasonable price for a custom guitar.
He's working on two builds for Randy Bachman right now,
one for Randy and the other for a charity raffle.

that is so nice,
love the grain on the top
it isn't over the topped flamed but it is really crisp looking

It's a figured redwood top, mahogany body and neck, rosewood board.
Bill is working on two other carved tops of his own design and the tops on those are outrageous.
There were many more samples to chose from, when I picked mine, that were very flamey.
I like them a touch more subdued.
This is where the top came from...
