so the ex is coming over with the movers tomorrow to take her stuff away. i'm not sure whether i'm more afraid of how painful it'll be or more relieved about the prospect of it being over with. i wish i could just sleep through it, but if i do she'll strip everything out of here but the paint off the walls.

^ That is the hardest part, dubk! I am so glad that my wife and me both moved out at the same time. I had that once, a long time ago and it felt absolutely horrible. The good thing is that it will just be over as soon as the truck pulls out.

my own rage: the remarks about feminism in the whatever thread make me sick.

:p

Goodness! I'm not dissing feminism, just the snarky tone of Carole Plateman's writing and her lack of ideological consistency(particularly on the topic of prostitution). My other point was that feminism is such a diverse line of thought that even feminists have trouble describing it. There's quite a difference between seeing little rallying points in feminist literature and opposing women's rights.

Also, they're too busy licking their partners' cooters to figure out how to right succinctly. :p

;)

Some days i feel like I'm too nervous a person to deal with society at large. Like I should be shot into deep space or the wilderness or something. Only making contact indirectly with other people.

i've felt like this since i was, like, nine or ten years old. i just don't do well with human beings. i'm good with cats; people, not so much. ever since i was a teenager i've thought the ideal environment for me would be an isolated mountain home with a full studio in the basement, where i could work the hours away in Rundgren-esque fashion to fill the time left open by the lack of other people. other people always end up disappointed in me, anyway.

i don't so much want "a new girlfriend" as i want someone to like me, to appreciate my good points. i've had like four years of my ex, haven given up on me, being mean to me and running me down, and i really need someone to not hate me, someone to actually enjoy my company. i'm so totally unaccustomed to actually being attracted to someone that i have no idea what to say or how to act any more...like with my job search, a whole decade of culture has totally passed me by while i've been sitting in one spot. the one thing i know is that i don't want a relationship that takes over my life, where somebody moves in with me and all that. if somebody lives with me in the future it's going to be on my terms, in my situation which i'll maintain/retain before and after they're gone.

waiting for the Klonopin to kick in so i can go to sleep...it's 2:30 AM here in Cal-i-for-ni-ay-ay (as Belle and Sebastian put it in one of their loveliest songs) and the ex and the movers are supposed to be here at 9, so i'll have to get up at 7 to be awake, fed, and ready to cope with everything. i think i'm just going to repeat to myself, "soon this will be over, Dan will be here, and we'll be playing 'Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning'."

The only band I wanted to see at a festival tonight, and I've been wanting to see them for a while, has canceled. And since it's a festival I won't get a refund, but the enjoyment of a replacement band, except not. The only bright side is that was announced beforehand so I won't go there and be annoyed. I don't have the best luck with shows.

so the Moving Party should be here in an hour or less. imagine my joy and excitement. and since the sleepers from last night aren't run through yet, i cannae take more tranks. oh, joyous felicitations. i really hope this doesn't turn into the sort of ugly disaster, complete with police intervention, that it could do.

well, that was the first day. it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, largely due to the excellent bro-tude of the Mexican dudes who Kim hired as the movers...they were really nice, and really sympathetic to my position. Kim was being a real jerk until i brought her up short with a number of pointed statements, demands, and warnings of potential lawsuits that made her Dad get all pissed to the point where i could have had him arrested if i felt sufficiently pissy. however, the result was that she, correctly, backed down on several issues. it still isn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but it's passing through the intestine. soon it'll be shat out and flushed away.

Last night I was given the "I really just don't see us being more than friends" chat....with the second girl this semester. Ironically it's always after you spend a lot of money on them for a date they suggest. In both cases, both girls admitted to leading me on :picard:

After my last gf and I broke up at the beginning of the summer, I realized how shitty it is that girls (especially 20-23 from my experience) just don't know what the hell they want. Sad thing is, this most recent girl had identical taste in music, movies, hobbies, pretty much everything. Blah, she pretty much begged me to still call her everynight and everything, wtf :whateva:

Obviously that won't happen.

Also, I had to pay for two new tires for my car.....$300......and someones credit card was missing when it came time to pay.......now to track that motherfucker down. Plus I have been putting up with whiny band mates who complain about practice times. We have a show thursday in which we are playing a whole new set list and only 2 of the 4 of us know what the hell we're playing. Not to mention I just dropped $300 on new drum equipment to play the show because our drummer won't get off his ass and get a job, and the set we were borrowing was taken back.

Oh and my ex decided to text me yesterday for the first time in 3 months and be a negative nancy about me for 10 minutes.

Fuck :grumpy:

copied/pasted from another of my forae for brevity's sake:

well, this has been an interesting day so far. Gollum and the movers arrived apace, and she got me so pissed by insisting that she had to remove the cable modem TODAY despite the fact that she can't turn them in until Monday that i blew my stack and demanded my house keys back on the spot, and called in the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Deputies when they stonewalled me and her father, for the second day in a row, assaulted me by engaging in menacing behavior by repeatedly pushing into my space, bumping my chest, and growling "back off" because i was finally confronting his evil, mentally deranged daughter.

lo and behold, when the deputies arrived they quickly informed Kim that all her cherished notions about her "legal rights" were a total fiction. she has no "tenancy rights" because she last stayed here on August 27th and paid no contribution towards the mortgage, i.e. rent, for the past year and a half. thus, she's legally obligated to return any and all of my keys ASAP, and any non-authorised return to my property will be legally considered trespassing and will render her subject to arrest. she's been advised that the only way she can get the cats is by filing suit and getting a court order, which she can't possibly win according to the officers. she's been dissuaded from removing the modem, so i have Net for the weekend. and the deputies legally cautioned her father against any further assaultive behavior on his behalf. (i've gotta tell you there's nothing funnier than a 70 year old man with a heart condition advancing on you growling "don't fuck with me." trust me, i won't...i don't know fucking CPR.) i will allow her to use the Barge on Sunday or Monday to remove her trailer form the property, on the condition that she leave the Volvo here so i have transportation, and also as a security deposit. by the time the cops were done negotiating compromises she'd actually resorted to the "feel sorry for the weeping vulnerable woman" routine LOFL. as i followed her back into the house after the cops left, i LOLed out loud at her and yelled "CHECKMATE!" they said that you were hot stuff, and that's what baby's been reduced to.
