Good first day at guitar center. Though, i must say, they use an incredibly dated system in green screen.

Got nothing useful done today but I just started recording this random insane thing I was singing and now it's morphed into loads of inspiration for a crazy song. Probably going to be 10+ minutes long, make zero sense and be unplayable live.

Had a nice chill night with my sister in Mae town. Now I'm chilling on her couch smoking weed and eating candy getting ready to crash. I may have even talked her into letting me play a shitty old organ in her weird music project.

Also, my SIS has Throat Coat tea and organic honey. Feels amazing when you've had the same cold for three weeks.

After an emotionally draining day, sitting down with the keys and pedals for just ten minutes made me feel calm and collected.

sold a big pile of CDs today so i'd have enough money to pay bills and stuff. oddly, i was really happy about it, because it was stuff i really didn't want. i got rid of a bunch of Mille Plateaux-style abstract techno, some stuff that i never really loved like the Can records with Malcolm Mooney on vocals, and some things i'm just tired of. i'm officially no longer cool, because i sold my copy of Trout Mask Replica. yeah, i know, it's a work of genius and all, but shut up already. oddly enough, they wouldn't take my copy of Everything Went Black. about 65% of the stuff i culled survived the five-minutes-and-out audition process and got kept...a bunch of weird techno stayed if it kept my interest--Autechre stayed; Kit Clayton didn't--and most of the post-rock survived, even the Windsor for the Derby singles collection. there's an even harsher cull in store somewhere down the line, where i do things like go through the MuM records and the Flying Saucer Attack stuff disc-by-disc, but i was trying to get out to the store today...it was bad enough having to go through the Beach Boys without having to do the Windy and Carl. i came out of the store over $100 to the good.

I am very happy with my new girlfriend. She is one of the greatest, most charming, positive and pleasant to be around persons I met. She only likes techno but I've already started to turn her on to some random great stuff. We went to an Urlaub n Polen and a Konono No1 show in the last week and she loved both. Dancing madly. I will probably never get to the point where she also likes stuff like Neurosis or Liturgy. Whatever, as long as I can get her to like the music I make I'll be fine.

Awesome.

Konono No1 is basically like primitive techno (or possibly Krautrock if you believe the liner notes and some reviews of their first CD).

So this is more of an axious/anxiety post but 2 of my friends have decided I am o go on a blind/double date with them, as my gf and I broke up about a month ago. Aparently they showed teh girl my picture and she is still down to go, which is a better start than any other relationship I have been in hah.
Anyways I have no idea what to expect because she is extremely attractive, my roomate/one of the people setting this up has even started a tumblr to quote and trace my experience through this ordeal. I am realizing I should probably put this in the irritation thread though because I'm irritated about how much I over analyze everything and freak out, but still I'm trying to be optimistic right?

Not like it's even a big deal since I have never met her and I don't ever plan on it becoming something but still ughh

Modest Mouse may be one of the best bands ever.

Eric Judy is my idol for bass playing. Everything he does is perfectly melodic and interesting without becoming the focus of the song.
Jeremiah Green is incredible, the dude throws in so many odd rhythms and strange beats that again, come together with everything else to not intrude on the song.

And Isaac Brock has some of the most beautiful lyrics and guitar parts I've ever heard. The dude's a champion songwriter. No two ways about it.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG IS INCREDIBLE.
