It's the best condensed single of an expanded track ever, probably.

We agree a lot as long as it isn't about music production I think.
Also instead of trying to get into Kylesa and Baroness I think you should just listen to Black Cobra.

Phurpa: I almost like them a lot but there is something that puts me off but I don't know what it is... I should like them going by what they do and what they sound like but...

These are all good Kylesa/Baroness alternatives.
If you really want to try Kylesa, start at Static Tensions and work backwards.
For Baroness, start at Red and go back.
Baizely got over-saturation because he is great and did work for all his buddies and then that scene blew up and everyone realised Pushead was great and started ripping them both off (I still like his stuff).
Vid, I find it hilarious that you like Red Fang more than the first four Mastodon records.
Red Fang are like stoner for everybody 15 years too late for stoner, but want to be the cool kids in denim vests anyway.
I'm yet to hear a Red Fang track that blows me away.
They are like the Sword Lite.
Lols at Down being like famous Sword.
I'll concede recent work has been pretty much insular for the fans but the first two albums are still asskickers.

Never listened to Damad, dig this.
You know who I really miss? Zoroaster. That band was
the shit, like an American Bong without the overt Lovecraftisms and half the patience.

Yeah Zoroaster were cool.

Seriously Matador is probably the most under-appreciated record in that whole scene. Their demo was super cool, too.

never heard Zoroaster. But Damad were so raging. I mean I know you can't make the same album 20 times in a row and can't keep doing the same band and blah blah but I wish Kylesa still sounded even a little bit like that. Damad songs with the recording and pressing budget Kylesa has now would be insane.

Matador was awesome.
It is kind of weird that the Damad to Kylesa transition was so drastic, but yeah that would be rad.
I mean, its not like they can't be that brutal and intense.

post-reunion Swans discography is overall better than pre-breakup
Especially talking about consistency. BIG TIME

I don't know the band as well as some of y'all, but based on what I've heard, I'll second this

If by that you mean they've more or less made the same good record three times over, I agree.
SwAC/DC is pretty nice.

i will retract my statement regarding their first 2 albums (mastodons). i guess shuffle just turned up on the newer stuff way too much last year and i got tired of that crap i forgot they made good music too once.
sword to me seems like a riff compilation more than anything else, while red fang makes songs containing great riffs.
something just clicked when red fang did it, and i like the sword, they just dont stand out to me.
i would kill to have anything similar to mastodon and the sword playing at the gym, so this is basically arguing for who is the best between already good bands.
Fair enough.
I dont mind Age of Winters and Warp Riders, but the did songs on those records are really dudly.
The thing about Red Fang for me is if they came out like 10-15 years ago and dos the whole Bong Wizard 420 thing, it would have been rad, but since the constant influx of that shit has happened post Kyuss, it's kind of meh.

We've discussed this in the Doom Room, but yeah, basically some bands can do this, most cannot.
