I listened to a few buzzaround demos. Not really what I'm after. It's way too thick sounding.
I'm really thinking the 88 is what I'm after. Trying to see if I can find a good schematic and have a friend build one or something. Doesn't look like there's a lot of alternatives out there similar to it.

The tone I’m chasing is like Scratch Acid or Chrome but with oscillations. My gut is telling me an 88 would get me there and further. Plus Kawakami had one briefly which is sick.

Hm, check out the LAL Lluna as well, could get you there. One just popped up used on Reverb.

Only intuitively. 2 and 5 are self-oscillation, 3 and 4 are gate-like, 6 seems like a filter, and I tend to think of 1 as sort of a voice switch. But this might be technically incorrect, just my ideas after five years of using it (could probably have asked Hirofumi).

Had one of those many many moons ago. But lo, it did not oscillate, and I did not have the skill to make it.
