Just chiming in to proclaim my lust for the CT5. Looking forward to scooping one up from the next batch.
I've been watching as many demos and clips as I can. I'm just blown away by how fantastic it is.

How is updating the current pedals going to work? Will it show up as a mass storage device on our computer and we just replace a file on there? More curious than anything.

there is a bootloader app/driver for windows supplied by the chip manufacturer (ST). You will have to plug in the ct5 to a computer with a usb cable then upload the firmware to it using the bootloader application. I have not tested on a mac yet but it is likely that you can use virtual machine or a windows on apple hardware to do the same since it only needs usb support really. Wine should work if you have linux (well ubuntu at least) but i will test and post results.

Hm, I have a laptop with Arch Linux and Wine if you want me to test that. If it works on Arch it'll work on everything else probably

Can the old ones be upgraded to this spec?

They are functionally already the same, you just don't have a dedicated Q switch on the original version.

Exactly. I'm guessing this means you're not adding any more Q modes, right?

no, there will still be more Q modes in the firm update. The new Q switch is momentary, it always returns to center, so you flick through a list of q modes, therefore not limited to 3. don;t worry it is the same capability wise as the first version/can have more than 3 q modes/the method from either version lends itself to this situation.

Okay, so this is where I am confused. Do you still have to be in mode 1 to change quantization in the new version? If so then I guess I can understand what you're saying, but if you can change them in any mode in the new version then I'd probably want that one. I'm not trying to rag on you, it's just that changing q modes more easily was one of my main wishes. :idk:

the firm update will save the quantisation with power off and whatnot yeah? if it does im sweet with my older one.
but maybe....two pedals is better than one......
