I have never even thought about Rick pickups in something other than a Rick.

I blame this on bigchief but I've been thinking about body types to put a Rick pickup in.

If you're putting them in a bass, go with the single coils instead of the HB2 :erm:
HB2's cool but it's really not super different from the neck and bridge J humbuckers simultaneously, apart from the lower output.

But ew really? J n&b is shit and horribly low output at the best of times. Got to slam them fuckers with J/P bridge pickups. Or the hilarious oversised HBs my mate has in his beatle bass which is the fattest thing I've ever heard. Need one for something else...

Yeah, if you play it with a pick and roundwounds you can hear the characteristic Ric sound...but mixed in with like anything else it becomes "a bass". For me anyway. If it isn't extremely obviously a Ric kinda sound then there's no point in using a Ric pickup instead of something else.
Gotta get dem Dimarzio Model Js man, they're darker and much stronger than normal J pickups.

This is gonna be my treat in 2013 too, a 27" baritone neck with black block inlays for my black JM... it's totally gonna take the edge off turning 37.
