i love alternate tunings, but in his band setting it didn't make much sense. i guess i normally associate alternate tunings with weirdness. especially because that tuning literally makes no sense. minor sixth, tritone, minor third?

thanks for that site! a few pages back i posted a link with a ton of sonic youth songs sorted by tuning. or tunings sorted by song i guess. if you haven't seen that yet it's sweet.

it's akin to a banjo or ukelele tuning, which may be where that guy got the idea. back in the early 20th century they used to build "tenor guitars," which were 4-string guitars tuned like tenor banjos and used in jazz orchestras.

it's a D chord with the major 3rd in the bass (F#/D), and an E major chord (G#/B) superimposed over the top.

unownunown wrote:if you use guitar pro, you can use the handy chord tool to show you any chord in any tuning. what you do is click track then adjust the guitar tuning to whatever, then press okay. then press a and it will show you like, every single chord.

also it'll show you the notes/fingerings in whatever scale you want under the same tuning if you click the fretboard icon.

guitar pro is just

holy fuck.

Alternate tunings can be tricky, but if you fiddle around with them long enough you get used to them AND you come up with cool shit.

I spy a make believe tuning.

it took me awhile to figure it out...that third in the bass really messed my head up, because you almost never see that in a guitar tuning and never see it in a violin-family tuning.

if you pronounce "Epiphone" correctly in Greek, it sounds the same as "epiphany."

I saw a red stain on my bird's tail feathers and got kinda worried.

Then I remembered her flying from her cage, landing on my leg and immediately sprinting through my dinner last night.
It was fucking barbecue sauce.
