Jeebus that guitars a beaut!!!!!! Oh and I echo Skully's sentiment, Phat Cat p90's are really nice, good depth and clarity and you can actually hear how the rest of the instrument affects the tone (transparency?). But I do really like that solid chrome covered humbucker, it looks pretty sick.

Re: Let's see your GUITAR!
The looks on the Humbucker are great, that's true.
I am still not a big fan of the Phat Cats I have in my Bastin, so I would not recommend them. They just feel strange, also pretty high output for my liking but that was what you were looking for, right?
Never tried any of his P90's, but whenever someone asks about Pickups I mention Jaime at The Creamery. He makes great Pickups.

Is it possible that the wiring is goofed and you're getting some phase cancellation with both pickups on? Although I guess if it's quiet and thin with only the bridge pickup on by itself it's probably just a lame pickup. I have a guitar with a humbucker in the bridge and a P90 in the neck, and the wiring was backwards on one of them so they would phase cancel like crazy in the middle position. Flipped the wires and it was all good after that. Might be worth a look.

I've talked to Jaime in the last and really like his Hum-90. I have definitely considered him. Thank you.

It's only thin and quiet when the bridge pickup is engaged. It's probably half the volume and depth of the stock neck pickup. It looks neat, but certainly doesn't sound. Like I said earlier, I'm a huge P90 fan, so I'm definitely looking t humby size P90's. Something thick, big, warm, moderately hot that handles fuzz really well, as well as keeping its clean characteristics.

New gert alert!!!! Just in a minty fender mustang pawn shop special from Holyschnikes. Here it is:

So far I am having so much fun playing through just a fuzz and reverb and letting the guitar shine. It truly does play like a dream. I didn't know if I would like the shortscale but it is a pleasant change. It is inspiring to start really "playing" guitar!
Green light in the background to contrast the mint green pickguard.

Love those pawn shop mustangs, that thing is pretty! Good to know they play well too, I'll have to give one a try.

Hey!! Another tree shot:

Crummy shot of my VMJM:

End up playing Melody most of the time, who'd a thunk 1 P-90 could be so versatile!! The Squier middle and neck positions sound awesome, not as crazy about teh bridge pup by itself, may get a Novak or old Fender for it. Killer necks on both, woot!
Edit: Wow, that really is a crappy pic, a little better (except for the dude playing it):

Dude so much fuzz. But believe it or not I'm actually liking a cleaner signal because the humbuckers are so full. Plus the pickups really shine with loads of verb. The tornado bridge that Shannon put on is wonderfully comfortable. So smooth. Truly inspiring!!!! Maybe you can play it some day...!!!!

Re: Let's see your GUITAR!
chillerthanmost wrote:Thanks guys. It plays smooth so far. I have a Ric 360, so I'm used to the Ric neck and feel. It feels a lot like my 360 but a hair heavier. Both of which feel small to me because I play my Tele more often. Which even then feels small because I play a Fender Precision even more, haha. But I'm drifting, the guitar feels great. The bridge is a replacement. It came with a Bigbsy on the side but I need to replace the rest of the bridge in order to use it. The humbucker (obv non original) was routed real poorly, but only noticeable at up close inspection. It's an old DiMarzio. It sounds horrible. I opened it up and thought it could be the wiring but it looked good inside. There could have been something that I missed but it sounds really thin and really quiet / low output. Kind of like its attenuated a whole bunch. The second you switch it over to the stock neck, it jumps out and bits your leg full of warmth and volume. Regardless, I'm not such a fan of humbuckers. So I'm looking into humby size P90's. if anyone has recommendations, I'd love to check them out. I have a few that I'm looking at so far. I have a Bareknuckle P90 at the bridge of my Tele that rules, so I'm kind of basing my sound off that. But BK doesn't make it anymore. Plus I could use something a hair fatter. Pig fat.
I just realized that the volume pot in my new Ric are probably 250k and possibly 500k for the tone, if not also 250k. I also kept finding this doing some online searching. Could this be the reason why the humbucker would be quiet, thin, and shrill? Too high tone pot giving it brightness and too low volume pot not putting out enough volume? I've only ever played with guitars rocking 500k pots besides my bass and the time I ran EMG's in my Les Paul. Anyways, anyone know if swapping the volume pot to 500k and tone pot to 250k give me more volume and warmer tone? This would be awesome, as it would be much cheaper than getting a new pickup at the moment. Plus, I always heard old DiMarzio pickups were decent, I was surprised when this one sounded as bad.
