Very cool! I love those little tropical fishy caps swimming around in there. I haven't found too many instances where Ge diodes don't sound the best. They are getting harder to find these days. Not a lot of them in stuff built past the 1970's. I dig the enclosure too. Very Cool.

Can I just say, I am so happy SoaringTortoise started posting here. He makes cool sounding things in the coolest enclosures. It may be the scotch talking, but I want him to fill my home with neat sounding oddities.

Another great looking pedal SoaringTortoise, can't wait to hear you smooth vocal demonstrating the pedal in a video coming soon.

So that must be a Harmonic Percolator. It's beautiful! I've never actually built my own enclosure before, always looked out for boxes and tins but now I'm seeing all the potential there is to start salvaging bits of metal and wood and knocking up interesting new things to put circuits in. A fuzz that looks like that turns me on much more than a super-neat powder coated screen printed hammond 1590 (although I like them too) - it looks like I want a fuzz to sound, a bit broken and beaten up but at the same time charged with a richness and wonder - like an alcoholic hobo umpa-lumpa.

What does the SPECIAL FUN KNOB do?

Had a listen - sounds as fantastic as it looks! That octave down is demonic. Can you divulge the secret behind getting that out of the HP circuit? I'm guessing it has something to do with the cap between the two transistors?

That fun knob works as described. Sounds great man. And we could definitely make things happen if my wallet allowed me to. Saving up for a new amp currently; but, after that gets made, we will definitely make some happenings.

Actually the only cap true to the schematic (one of the schematics anyway) is the .1uF between the collector of Q1 and the base of Q2. It is the filter/bias cap between the emitters of both transistors and ground that is the culprit. The HP has a 47uF in that spot. I have replaced this with a 100uF cap and a 1uF cap in parallel. The 1uF cap is connected directly to ground. The 100uF cap has a 2K pot wired as a variable resistor between it and ground. When the pot is turned all the way down there is no impedance between the 100uF cap and ground so there is a total of 101uF capacitance and the circuit works as designed. As you roll the 2K pot up you start to remove, or I guess more correctly impede, the 100uF cap from the ground source and you are left with just 1uF on the emitters of the transistors....and groovy stuff happens. It is not really a secret since I don't think I have done anything that hasn't already been done before. Thanks again for all the compliments and your interest. Replaced all the electrolytic caps in my AOR50 tonight!
The new 50+50 caps are so much smaller than the old LCRs but I like the look

Also stripped and re-stained the head cabinet I made for it, much happier with the stained look.
