Honestly, I love the shit out of black metal, I would marry doom metal and have its babies, but death metal never did it for me.
Probably because ostentatious technical skill is literally the last thing that I find compelling in most music.

high on fire's worst album is "surrounded by thieves", and i blame the sound. "art of self defense" sounds 1000x times better, and the songs are better too.

I mean, I could come at liking the sound of AoSD better, yeah sure, but the songwriting is just as strong on both records so...
Here's one: Down II is the best Down record.
(Won't be popular because nobody here likes down, anyway. But is unpopular around down fans.)

Electric Wizard's self-titled is one of their best albums because, you know, i can hear what the fuck is going on.
