So who got an Xbox One or a PS4 already?? Watcha been playing on it?

I've been watching the new games a bit.. Dead Rising 3, Killzone, CoD Ghosts, Ryse.. I think I like Ryse the best but it's kinda boring, it's literally the same sword fight over and over... not really blown away by the new consoles yet I guess.

Neither for me. I'm partial to PC gaming. Yet, invariably (as it has happened every video game generation so far) there will be some exclusive that makes me purchase one (or all) of the new systems.

I didn't pre-order a PS4 so I'm out of luck for now. I have been looking all over the city though and have even checked a store or two in Sherwood Park but no dice. I'm interested in the new Killzone but can't wait to see more about the new Uncharted. Probably won't be able to get a PS4 until the new year.

I'm so glad the PS4 is out.
Now I'll be able to buy a cheap PS3 some day and finally play Valkyria Chronicles. And...whatever other PS3 RPGs there are.

I always thought once I was an 'adult' that I would get the new consoles on launch day. Now that I am an adult, I decided that launch titles are usually garbage and I will wait until the first price drop before I consider getting one, and maybe not even then depending on what games are out.

I have an ungodly backlog for PS3 and 360...this gives me time to work on that and spend my money on pedals :animal:

So what system is everyone going for this time around? My initial impression is that I should probably get a PS4 first since it has/will have more exclusives that I will want.

this wired & game informer reader / 360 player is still totally uninterested in the xbox one.

ps4 seems awesome but i doubt i'll bother until the price drops. a good bit.

I feel exactly the same. Every launch is littered with mechanical and software problems, there are limited amount of games, the prices are too high and the support is poor due to the amount of people trying to do the same thing at the one time. I see no reason to buy either console until at least after the Christmas rush. At least. Plus, I still have 10+ titles on the 360 and PS3 I have yet to play, and they should drop even further in price now that the next generation is available, which deters me even more from upgrading. The previous generation of consoles, in my opinion, are still and will remain the main gaming source for at least six months. PC gaming is slowly dying, but I hope for goodness sake it doesn't completely disappear. I doubt it will due to the huge market for high-spec machines, but more and more developers are ignoring their heritages and focusing on consoles.

And when I do get a console (maybe at the end of Winter or in the Spring of next year), it'll probably be the PS4. I think it has better games, is slightly cheaper, and I don't really need any of the extra stuff that the One includes. I use a console for gaming, watching Blu-rays, and Netflix, that's it, and the PS4 does this arguably better. I'll definitely eventually pick up the Xbox One, but no until next Summer/Autumn, unless of course there is a huge influx of games or a huge influx of money my way.

It's a shame that PC gaming has been in a slump because the new consoles are just bad PCs :erm:

Totally. They always have been and always will be inferior. It's not cost-effective for companies like Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft to cram $1500 worth of hardware into a $500 box. My brother always said that at each console release the specs of each respective unit had to be on par with a PC that could perform well with every title on the market at the time. Although my brother is a complete gaming nerd and very knowledgeable, I think I disagree. Neither the 360 nor PS3 had developers that could harness the power of the consoles upon release. It took them a year to finally realise games like Uncharted and Gears of War that matched the PC... which was too late of course. The PC had already began to move on... and on... and on again. The hardware might have been there upon release, but no one knew how to use it. The new consoles, though, don't even have similar hardware, so even if game developers discovered all its tricks and quirks, I don't predict the graphics will never come close to a PC. Of course, we'll be into 4k resolution in the next five years, and consoles will again be left behind mechanically.

I'm glad I invested in a gaming PC. Once you get over the initial cost you can just upgrade as you see fit. And games are a lot cheaper...

My roommate plans on buying a PS4 which I'm stoked about because I still want to play next gen sports games on consoles and I'm sure there will be some dope exclusives. When the new Super Smash Bros comes out I'm buying a Wii U just for that (and maybe some Zelda).

I don't think I'm cut out to beat Dark Souls at level 1. The game is punishment enough, man, I dunno...I'm getting one-shotted by the backswings of boss/big enemy attacks.
Even the boss fights on the hardest setting of God Hand weren't annoying in this way. Getting killed by the whiff of someone's attack is terrible. It's like when the camera jerks and you walk off a ledge, just somehow kinda soul-destroying.

Consoles will always have a place and I'll always own them. Missing out on awesome exclusives is a big deal. I prefer certain games on a controller anyway, like driving and action & adventure titles.

Yeah there are some exclusives I want and sports titles for PC are worthless compared to the console version. But connecting an Xbox controller to a PC is just about as easy as connecting it to an Xbox so use of a controller has never been a problem for me.

Definitely will eventually pick up another controller so I can play Batman on the PC in the way that I prefer.

Yeah I highly recommend it, it's very nice and the only game that hasn't worked for me was GTA: SA. For some reason it did not recognize the triggers as buttons so I couldn't assign them to anything :?:

I do most of my PC gaming on controller, shooters are just about the only games I use a keyboard for.
