It's a great calorie tracker, and if you've got one of dem fancy smart phones you can even scan in barcodes/labels.
It's mostly about portion control. Diet doesn't mean starving yourself of everything you enjoy and only eating chicken/broccoli/spinach.
I love the pie charts in MFP, they really help me visualize my macro nutrients, making sure I'm balancing out my fat/protein/carbs.
It's also fun seeing the graphs of your weight go down (or UP...guh my winter bulk was a bit too successful).
Cardio can work if your diet is in so-so shape and you don't start eating more.
...but beware, intense cardio often makes you more hungry.
Yeah. I'm doing pretty good on that. It took me four years of trying to finally look at it from an addictions angle. I fasted three days to "break the addiction" and after that, my stomach was small and portion control was insanely easy. Lost the first 30 really fast. Once I got down to 220, it got tough. Not crazy tough but to the point where it had to be BOTH diet and exercise. That's where I'm at, now. If I diet and don't exercise, I maintain. If I exercise and don't diet, I maintain. Wife being preggos with five kidders and her having to have 3,000+ calories a day and then the driving back and forth two hours to see them....and now five new borns at home.......I got off both the diet AND exercise. Got back up to 220 pretty fast.
The diet part is kinda easy. It's more of making sure I get enough calories around the clock that's hard. So busy over here. The exercise will take some adjusting. Got some Tae Bo DVDs heading my way. We'll see what's up. I miss soccer so much.

I got 98 years on that calculator thing.
Although apparently if I take an aspirin every day I will live to 100. Which would mean I would die in 2082. The future!!

In case its not been posted up here then
scoobys workshop has some great routines for people looking to work out. I'm doing the Intermediate plan currently on a high protein diet and I'm making some pretty good gains. I'm a cyclist at heart but the weather is too shit to do any decent miles and weight training is pretty rewarding once you get into it.

Being relatively in shape is making me want to do sports again. I might buy a shot put and start throwing stuff again so I can maybe be on a team when I go back to school. I'd really rather do discus or javelin, but I can throw a shot put in my back yard and not kill anyone, so there's that. May also have to look for some sort of amateur wrestling league, but I really don't want to cut my hair.

This forum has some great videos, tutorials, and exercise routines oriented towards gymnastics and body weight training. Also, a hilarious amount of bro-talk. I don't want to pay for a gym, so some of the stuff in here is pretty cool.

Progress-wise myself, I am down to 10% bodyfat, needing to be 7 or 8 in about three weeks for a photo shoot.
I'd upload a selfie but have noticed a distinct lack of selfies in this thread. I don't want to be that guy.

Aiight fuzzbros, I'm about to quit smoking... again. So I'm in for 72 hours of not so much fun, but in the spirit of wellness, I figured I should post it here.

I'm in the process right now of quitting.
Stopped for 2 weeks, got back into it for another few and now I'm starting over again, AND ITS JUST AS FUCKING HARD AS IF I NEVER QUIT.
I'm so angry at myself.

Yeah my personal best was seven or eight weeks. I'm hoping that by switching up my method (being super fucking busy for the next few days with no smoking supplies anywhere nearby) I'll be able to avoid the vicious bastard that is downtime.
And some jump rope and jumping jacks for the "FUCK ME I CAN'T SLEEP I NEED TEH SMOKES" insomniatic night times that always seem to dominate the first couple days.
