Every time I move my amp I think "I got to go back to a solid state"
but then I play through it and :omg:
you just cant get that "greasy" (thanks mud) sound from a solid state.
I use to call that sound beefy but i like greasy too!
beefy grease? greasy beef?
I do need more speakers though I am running a bassman 300 into a Epifani 115with a peavey black widow. The original 300 watt 15's coil fused and the cone caught on fire. I have been to EVERY music store on oahu and NONE of them have 15 cabs! WTF!!!

Yeah, I've played through SVT's before and all that shit, but honestly, to get it to have any character at all, you need to crank it so loud that its completely unusable in any realistic situation.

Fuck yur tubes

oooh, FUCKTUBES!

srly, Bigchiefbc has a good point, that shouldn't be forgotten.

I had my 100w tube amp (Laney Klipp -74, Butler & Iommi also used - or so I've heard) halved, rocked ti through a homebread 18"+15" cab. Great 'greasy' low end :joy: (love the adjective  ) and blistering, clipped treble boost :animal: and the motherfucker was far too powerful for NEARLY ALL club gigs I did. SO, I could 'crank' - though theuse of term is here hardly proper - the tube amp on, like, 2.1. So I was making any use of the great sounds in studio only, which made me a very sad panda  Hardly what I was after originally.

THEN I got a deal with the importer and since then I have rocked, thundered and preached with the Hughes & Kettner Quantum QT600 hybrid head with tube /optical compression, and a 4 X 10" cab for gig rig. Has far enough POWRZ live at clubs and at festivals It suffices to add the old cabs for moving more air. Also, studio techs, engineers and the lot have appraised the fucker as one of the very rare amps in which the knobs actually do what they are supposed to do by labelling. And when I feel like adding vintage über mojo on recordings, then it's the soundproof recording cube time :omg:

MORAL OF THE STORY: get gear that not only sounds good but also meets Your needs, otherwise You'll notice You're using a theoretically great gear that is neither sounding good nor answering to Your needs.

First of all I love you BCBC

Secondly,

I don't exactly know how I feel about tube versus sold state amps because I have never spent a long time with an amp other than my old B2R Ampeg and my little trusty 15 watt Ashdown practice amp. I like both for their own sound values and one day I will have my AD200 at home for the studio and my markking ashdown when I go on the road :)

I made the mistake of taking this to practice as my friend let me borrow it and now I'm screwed. If i gigged more often, I would hate myself, but since I'm only gigging once a month I can deal with it. It sounded so much better with effects than my TC Electronic rig, I was pretty much left with no choice. I was completely happy with my rig before I tried this. *sigh*

Unfortunately I couldn't find the crayon labled "stupid" in my 64 pack..so I'll just tell you...

Its a hand wired Marshall Super Lead kit that my friend put together. 100 watts of primo tube sound. :)*

Yeah I mean individual preference regarding amp choice is one thing, but fuzz -> tube amp is a Universally Amazing Concept.

Anyhow, I hate to be an On Topic Nazi, but:

And its not just the Fuzz, the Source Audio Distortion pedal I use about 75% time sounds so sweet running though this, completely organic sounding for a digital pedal.
