Re: WIZARD FOUNTAIN SCHEMATIC (WAS: Come on please!)
I found a schematic yesterday that is very very close to the wizard fountain but without the twist knob. Just diodes and a cap from base to collector. I think it was a jack orman design. So i kinda think that its just a mod on a mod on a mod. Like every other pedal on the internet. No disrespect intended but my opinion is that this schematic is borderline free. I dont think its cool to take something eric posted and claim it is yours or sell it or whatever. but i think if eric can pull peices of things off the internet and put a knob on it then anyone should be able to build this, repost, mod and post again. Just like it has been done before.
Eric if im wrong about where you got this from then I apolagize in advance.

Not entirely sure I understand the context of the post. Whether it's directed at Eric, or Jack, I don't know. Either way, I agree with the sentiment. A vast majority of pedals, especially dirt pedal, are simple variations of established designs, so I'm always amazed at the way some builders believe they deserve 100% credit for their designs. Why not give credit where it is due? I'm always amazed to see "gooped" pedals that turn out to be slight tweeks on well known designs. Seriously, what have you got to hide??? If you've come up with something seriously new and original, then fair enough, but why waste your time and energy gooping another TS clone? Thankfully Eric has always appeared to be one of the more down to earth builders, and from what I can see, has always been pretty open with the origins, schematics and topology behind most of his designs. We need more people like this out there building pedals, and inspiring others.

totally credit is due. Mellowtone invented the wirzard fountain. but it looks like all he did was add a knob and a fixed resistor. unless they had nothing to do with each other. anything is possible. if they are not related then I guess its fair to say that Jack Orman and Eric arrived at the same finish line after a lot of work experimenting with the fuzz face circuit. I mean no disrespect at all. I think its a very positive thing when everyone can look at schematics together to discuss and learn things. I have to thank Eric for posting a lot of his schematics. it is greatly appreciated!

Nice work! Glad you're happy with the sound of it. Think it's gonna be my next build too.

i dont know what jack orman schematic you are talking about. he is obviously a very talented designer and I am sure the similarity is coincidence. a lot of the stuff i do is based off certain building blocks which has alot to do with the electra distortion gain stages used in the big muff pi. with such a low parts count its not unreasonable that the two circuits in question could have a lot in common.
fuzz circuits are like cookie recipes.

I'll toast to that.

P.S. now that I have all these pedals in front of me, I find the wizard fountain more useful for dirty rhythm playing. its like in between overdrive, distortion and fuzz. pretty cool. I want to make another one with germanium. but I dont know what to use that has 450hfe. I would need to bias it also but thats no problem. have you built a bass wizard fountain with the different in and out caps? how does it sound?

Re: WIZARD FOUNTAIN SCHEMATIC (WAS: Come on please!)
Never got around to building one of these, and have thought about it many, many times over the past 2 years. Really need to get my shit together and just do it!!!
Anyone ever use my layout so it can be considered verified? Just wondering like.

Been experimenting with some custom mods to the basic Wizard Fountain circuit:
