btw I just read through the whole deafheaven thread for old-times feels (and unexpected sadness, RIP psychic vampire :( ) and it didn't really go down exactly how woolworm implied. Shockingly.

That said, Deafheaven are... fine?

I like how the common defense of that band boils down to "elitists bad, u just hate hipsters." Like...as if there aren't legit reasons to think that they suck.

Oh important deafheaven update: I actually saw them live a couple of years ago. In the sense of "they were at a festival and I had to walk through the room where they were playing briefly to get where I needed to go."

I did not stop. It did not sound good.

Bro they're average to good band. Some good instrumentals if you're high and good vocals. Their last album was average, the one before had their best song, Gifts for the Earth. Fucking amazing.

Anyway., I'm not defending them as a great band, I'm defending them for stupid fucking criticism, super dorky and sad criticisms that's more based on projection.

I checked out of this thread when I read the word “Skramz” because I am 40 years old and I am not googling it

I do not need it explained to me. It sounds stupid....

Also...to the OP...dude, I'm not sure what you expected to happen in this thread. You came in hella hot right out the gate...the reaction shouldn't be all that surprising. After that tirade of bad vibes and unwarranted fx loop hatred what were you hoping for exactly? "Oh! I have never thought of that thank for making me confront my fear of pedals and amps tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life. It turns out the only reason I don't put all my pedals in front of the amp is because of fear not because it sounds like dogshit in my set up."

Hey man, you're the one missing out on one of the greatest genres of all time.

No I expected this. I get this all the time. I go on a forum on every single one of my interests.

If every forum you go on is like this, do you ever stop to think whether it's that all the forums are full of angry awful people, or that your approach rubs people up the wrong way a bit?

Nah, it's definitely everyone else :thumb:

I'm sure we could all settle down and have a nice conversation.

The vocals are the worst part for me...and I generally like that vocal style. It just does not match the music in any way. It's like...clearly emotional instrumentals that are meant to be profound...then a dude doing a wack Immortal impression starts quacking all over them for no reason. You mentioned that they sound like a screamo band...yeah, if they had that kind of vocals I might feel differently. But then there wouldn't be all the normie music press hailing them for being some kind of revolutionary hybrid or whatever. They would just be a decent melodic screamo band in the vein of Envy.

Maybe I don't mind if I do? There's a personality disorder symptom called dissociation. You might know it, you might not, look it up if you don't.

I am indeed aware. I'm just glad we're on the same page now.

So effects loops eh? Never been a fan . Except effects loops on pedals. Those can be really cool.

Right it’s time for a critical reappraisal of Turbo. Who’s with me?
