I think I now need to self isolate for seven days because I have (very mild and not entirely certain) symptoms.

That sucks, CBS. Take care of yourself.
I expect to get infected at some point. My service work takes me inside people's homes and businesses. Asking a person in our office about our plan of response was met with outdated information regurgitated from the Fuckstick in Chief that is was just the flu, wash my hands and I'll be fine, he has seen worse shit while in the Marines, 9 out of 10 doctors said is was BS, and the media is creating this hysteria. The best part? He was the one to put together our plan of action, which resulted in saying they would ask people if they are sick, that is it. Our conversation devolved into basically saying I can go home for 2 weeks without pay if I am that concerned. Guess the idiot watched some real news over the weekend, as several of them were talking about cleaning and loading guns , you know, just in case of full societal breakdown. Fucking facepalm. Asking customers about their health has NOT been happening either, at least not consistently. But as I leave every call I wonder if they infected me, or if I am already infected and might have given it to them. Elderly couples, widow, special needs child, etc. I really don't want to be responsible for giving at risk groups a possible death sentence. So we have no real plan of action and I feel that my health or our customers' health is not taken into consideration. Odd enough, one lady in our office has been out for about 2 weeks and I heard she was possibly going to get tested. And our salesman has been out all week too. I have had direct contact with both of them.

hey, that sucks, but don't worry and hold on!
I found out i have almost surely contracted the virus - see post a couple of pages back regarding loss of sense of taste and smell - and so a lot of people that i know too. Apparently the large part of us is totally asymptomatic or with minor effects like the one i had or low fever etc, and that's not entirely a good thing, because most people don't know that they're infected and that they can infect others, which leads me to think that:

this is the dumbeSt thing ever to do, because probably they wouldn't even know if you are infected or not.
Just to give some insight: yesterday there have been 93 deaths in our hometown. Crematoriums are working 24/7 and they can't cover the needs so some bodies are being sent to other towns.

yeah I feel pretty ok and would normally go around acting as normal if I felt like this which is why it was a really hard call, but the best thing we can all do is take the advice seriously. I just feel bad that I might have been spreading something around my office without knowing for the last few days

My wife and I had some symptoms, too, and they passed. That's a frustrating thing about all this. You can't know if you've got it so you won't know if you've had it. We can't know if we should quarantine ourselves and we can't know if we should be worried about catching it in the future.

If there's the slightest chance you have it, quarantine yourselves for a week. Just not worth the risk of spreading it further.
Also, don't rely on catching it giving you future immunity, no one knows if that's the case yet.

Ya couldn't have known, kinda the problem with this whole thing, people can spread it days before they have any idea they have it.
My mum told me at the supermarket today she saw an old man sneeze directly in his hand and then put it straight back on the shopping trolley...

That's always been gross but at least the snots don't seem to be a common symptom of covid.

Did you read the last section about how they arrived at that conclusion? Because previous mortality estimates for other diseases were too high initially, they specifically looked at Germany’s data because it had the lowest mortality rate. Then they assumed that half of all cases go untreated.
For an organization that’s evidence based that estimate sounds like it’s leaving out a lot of evidence.

Soooo I'm losing my fucking mind and I don't like it.
I lost my job because they closed the fucking schools the rest of the year.
I am scared to death because people are not listening in my area and isolation for a few weeks (this is despite most business being closed)
I'm going stir crazy and so are my girls
My biggest fear through all of this is losing my business. I'm sure that's a lot of people's fears. Mine is tied to my home. I'm pretty nervous right now. The worst part is watching other investors salivate and talk about how excited they are to buy off of people who are going broke or over leveraged. This is where you find out who the real piece of shit landlords are. People talking about evicting during this or profiting off of it. Fucking scum.I'm over leveraged currently but I could sell it all and make money. Some issues however. Most people are not showing up to showings. All my units are occupied, save for the one I'm rehabbing. So, they have human beings there. I can't just shuffle them along. Especially not now. If people lose their jobs, man...I am so fucked. I can survive probably 4 months. Maybe. It would fucking suck though.
Yea. So. I'm scared.
My wife still has to go into work, so I'm continuously re-exposed. I kind of actually wish the military would step in. I'm a fucking Libertarian and I want them to force quarantine our asses. Just freeze debt, supply me with weed and food and I'm good.

K! THANKS GOVERNMENT!!!

I've been thinking about you every day lately, probably because you're the only landlord that I know and you've always seemed like someone who really does his damnedest to do right by people. I'm pretty certain that things will get straightened out sooner than later, not so much actually handling the virus, but financially we can't just all get fucked. I was talking with a mom from my kid's kindergarten today and she and her husband both got laid off within two days of each other, from totally stable two weeks ago to complete uncertainty.
My landlord just called today, discussing potentially off-setting any payment issues by taking money from our downpayment. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that, we're still as gainfully employed as ever (for now). IDK. I just feel really bad. Everyone is in tough spots. I'm just trying to keep a level head, but my normal move of "just dig down deep and work harder to get through" doesn't help when I'm watching my kids all day. That just leads to me being a shitty dad.
I wish there was

but instead of smilies it was two of these fellas

A problem that should be considered / and it's starting to be considered here/ is that the number of deaths is not really certain because a lot of elderly people are dying in their homes and retirement homes without being tested, so the mortality rate is approximately less than what is for real.
Jwar and PeteeBee, i'm sorry for your situatons, hold on! this thing is having impact on all aspects of our lives (social, economical, political), and i think it's hard to anticipate what is going to happen globally after the peak - which, in Italy, is expected to be next week. Among all the emergency measures launched by the government there's the freeze of mortgages, but modes and aligibility are still to be defined, i don't know if the U.S. is going to do the same thing eventually, we have very different systems. Meanwhile the interest rates on new mortgages are at their hystorical minimum (around 1%).

So, I have spoke with my banker and they are going to work with me so I don't go broke during this time. We are re-financing all my shit and actually I'll come out on top assuming this all doesn't last forever or for more than what my reserves have available.
For me though, the worst part is people. Motherfucker who bought up everything and are trying to capitalize on this shit. FUCK YOU. Guess where we are all going if the shit hits the fan harder.
Speaking of kids driving me nuts. I made some cannabutter the other night. Let's see how that does. I mean on me. haha. Also, any suggestions on what to do with the kiddos? We are going crazy not having shit to entertain us.
I do go to my brothers yesterday too, so I broke my self isolation. Sigh. I did it because my wife has to go to work, so I'm like "what the fuck is the point". I had fun. We just hung out there and fucked around making videos and working out. It was nice.

I'm fortunate enough to be conditioned for isolation. Been doing it for years. I am concerned with paying bills however. Good vibes going to everyone out there struggling for real.
