When buying a single item, I literally never haggle so my experiences have been mostly positive. I don't email people who post ridiculous prices because they expect people to haggle them. I understand why they do it tho, I just don't bother. If the price is right, I show up and buy it no questions asked. No point haggling a decent price anyway. The only time I will haggle is if I buy more than one item from the same person, that's it.

When I sell, the firmness of my price literally depends on how nice the buyer asks, my thought process starts and ends there. There is no better way to firm up my prices than be a fucking dick, otherwise I'll happily let go of 10% of my asking price if it gets me rid of stuff I don't use.

Saw a seller about 90 minutes away do a couple pedals I wanted, who lives in the same town as my brother-in-law. Guy was willing to deliver pedals at no charge, AND text with my bro to coordinate, all I had to do was pass along numbers and send a bank transfer and this guy was nice enough to take on that extra effort. Talk about frickin’ nice.

As well as horror stories, this thread is also for posting in while you’re waiting to make a sale/buy.

Currently sitting in a really ritzy mall waiting to buy a Mackie mixer from a guy. I’m early. It’s filled with weird people who love shopping in malls. Personally I do not enjoy shopping in malls.

I've posed this to friends irl before. Just imagine being a young kid, waiting for your weekend so you can get some privacy, just be away from the world and the pressures in brings. But your parents have other plans! "WE'RE GOING SHOPPING! CAUSE MALLS ARE FUN!" And your whole weekend is ruined cause you've been dragged to going to the mall for several hours because your parents don't have hobbies. It just sounds so terrible to me.

It is terrible! The mall is a garbage dump. I don’t think I have actually been to a mall in a long time. I know amazon is the devil etc but I’m so glad my wife can now order whatever she needs and gets her makeup delivered from Sephora as I so rarely need to go shopping. I go and buy two pairs of pants and some t-shirts/socks/underwear once a year.

Fuck I am tired of dealing with people on Kijiji. I just want to sell some pedals so I can justify buying a new guitar, but I don't want to deal with the stupidity that that entails.

This past week I sold a DS-1 to a guy who wanted to mod it. He then asked for a refund because it wasn't a "virgin circuit". It worked fine and I had never opened it up, so I have no idea what he was talking about, but I definitely don't do refunds unless something is broken, which I test everything before I sell it.

Another person replied to my ad to try and sell me a DS-1. I don't know why. I guess he saw I sold mine and figured I would want a new one for some reason.

I've had multiple people trying to negotiate on my prices by quoting the retail price stating that it comes with a warranty. If you want a warranty, buy it new. (That being said, you can apparently get a refurbished Mono Station with a warranty from Novation's website for $319CAN including shipping, which is honestly a pretty good price)

I also have an ad up stating I am looking to trade a few things for a guitar. I have not had a single reply from someone interested in the things I have listed for trade. BUT I have have multiple people reply to sell me their guitars. I am getting so tired of replying something along the lines of: "I don't have the funds, which is why I am trying to trade for a guitar, but I'll let you know if I sell some pedals".

And on top of that there's all the fucking lowballers. I am so close to just saying fuck it and hoarding everything. End rant.

It’s a frustrating thing, hustlin’ for those hottttttt deals.

I wouldn’t sell anything other than a pedal on CL/Kijiji anymore. Too much headache. Most of the time I never actually work out a deal anyway.

Actually buying used is usually fine. Selling is the real headache. I would only use Reverb these days. Fixed prices, shipping, no low ballers, no meetups.

I bought a new mixer and sold the old one to a guy in a wheelchair with half a lung. We met at a TTC station, he came to meet me and I was like dude I would have dropped off if I’d known you were in the chair, he says no, he refuses to limit himself. The mixer is for a ham radio show. No lowballing. Once in a while it’s good. Most of the time it’s not.

Now I feel stupid; I've never tried using Reverb

Guess it's time to give it a shot!

And yeah, I have no issues buying on Kijiji, but I don't lowball people or screw them around. I only offer on things I am seriously interested in buying and I am physically capable of picking up.

That wheelchair guy sounds awesome. Good for him

Well shit, already sold my Transmisser and don't need to meet up with anybody. Why haven't I been using Reverb?

Yes, not to shill reverb but, why haven't you been  ? Have you bought anything on it before? It's almost a problem for me because there was point (in 2017) where people just accepted all my offers.

I know that feel. Say no more. Explains everything. Case closed.
