Ask luthier Michael Sankey...most of his fine instruments use them.
Best,

I'm in love with the Alumitones.
I have a set of bassbars on my bass and three split coils on the strat. Love them. Id definitely put them in the low output category, but they do produce the full sonic spectrum. I love them.

I bought the the Alumitone 90, the P90 version of the Alumitones to put in my J Mascis Jazzmaster. Theres two versions of it but on their website they actually don't tell you the difference so I just bought the more expensive one but its only more expensive by 5 dollars. I want even more of a wide frequency range than traditional single coils but if it is as low output as everyone says, thats not ideal but if its sounds great its not too bad. The wide frequency response and no bias towards mids is the main thing.
I am eventually gonna get a G&L Doheny for those MFD pickups and two tone circuit. Also a Rickenbacker 330 12 with toaster pickups, maybe modded ones for higher output. I dunno I'll see.
