I like all dirt for different purposes.
When doing metal I want it to be crazy tight and clean. But with a little fizz. The Elements. A cooked 5150. That sorta sound.
Fuzz: I want the crumbly texture. The only point of playing a fuzz is to get the crumbles, otherwise I can just use a distortion. So I love the Fuzzhugger stuff because Tom does crumbles. It has to sound different enough such that there is a point to me stepping on the fuzz in a band situation. It is crazy how similar dirt sounds when you have cymbals eating frequencies and stuff.
Fuzz flavour 2: Horns. I want stuff that makes my guitar sound like Miles Davis. Love this sort of tone for soloing.
Overdrive: I love, absolutely love blown out OD, saggy, spitty, broken OD. Perhaps especially low gain sounds. I could play stuff that sounds a little broken all day. But I also dig shitty AOR overdrive sounds too, especially in a band situation.
