In fact, I just got a morley power fuzz wah from them at discount (Morley is usually excluded from sales) and they sent me the upgraded chrome version which is $80 more than the regular one. So.... you come to a forum owned and maintained by small builders, with a community that’s almost violently dedicated to those builders, and you wonder why we don’t like a shop that’s consistently bad for small builders?
You're ascribing to me an intent I simply didn't or don't have. I know nothing about the origin of this forum or the violent dedications of said members. I thought it was another spot to talk about gear. Anyhow, I'd love to hear exactly why Prymaxe is bad for small builders. Seriously, I'm ignorant of the issue and am genuinely interested. All I know is as a buyer I love deals, good friendly staff and fast free shipping.

Obviously don't have time to read all 47 pages, but I get the gist. Fuzzhugger was pissed off that their sales hurt his business and the used values of his pedals. Listen, I don't know anything about all that and as a consumer I could not care less. I want the cheapest price, the lowest shipping cost and the friendliest possible service. Prymaxe gives that to me. Sorry Fuzzhugger and maybe others had a bad experience, but that is their problem not mine. I'm not going to spend $25 more a pedal just to keep a small builder happy. That's not part of my contract as the consumer. And at the end of the day, what are pedals worth anyway? It's a $7 dollar enclosure with maybe another 20 or 30 in parts, usually bought in bulk for even bigger discounts. I think the profit margin is fair. And if you say that a lot of thought went into the design of each pedal you'd be right, but that is a one-time deal. After it is designed, every pedal after the first one made requires nothing else other than labor. Anyway, I don't revere small builders any more than I revere the large ones. The personal means nothing to me. I'm not in this to make a buddy with a builder. I guess it's just called the free market, and I choose to spend less, especially since used values are so low nowadays. but thanks anyway for pointing out that thread. The first page was interesting.

I think PGS were one of the better of these types of operations, whether or not they catered to ILF interests all of the time. I bought a ton of stuff from them and never once had an issue. I think it's definitely indicative of a sort of market shift or correction. This year alone PGS and Tone Factor have shuttered, and in the past 2-3 or so years how many others have done the same? Fat Tone, Jet City Music, probably some others I can't remember. It's a tough market since the margins are already shit and the constant race to the bottom with sales definitely made things more competitive, but I'm sure it was several factors that did them in, the death of their founder being a big one.

I doubt it's really Reverb's fault, they're just a marketplace (and "the eBay of the music world" is like, their business model, so I'm not sure how that's an insult) that allows access to more things, and if anything, should incentivize retailers large and small to step up their game since they can reach even more people through that conduit.

You do realise who owns and runs Fuzzhugger, and who owns and runs ILF?
You do realise that it was not just Fuzzhugger commenting in the thread, but multiple builders who are all active on the forums?
You also realise that a former Prymaxe employee, and also ILF member also raised valid points about their practices?

If the personal means nothing to you, why are you even on here? Half the reason why "boutique" is interesting is the relationship you can have to the builder and the product. Because there is no way an audience can here the difference between a DS-1 and The Elements, so that's not why you buy from small-scale manufacturers.

Just checking... because not that I was colluding but I totally told him and Jared to shut up about the collusion/echorec thing.

This is all very sad.

My first videos I saw waaaay back in the day when I typed in "fuzz pedals" into the youtube search bar where Andy demoing Devi Ever Pedals, specifically this one:

I spend HOURS as a shitty teen watching those early demos, lusting over these strange ass pedals that made these crazy sounds. That curiosity eventually led me here.

So: PGS->ILF->me being ya boi.

So thank you for the memories ProGuitarShop. Hope this transition is painless. And best of luck to Andy and the Tone Report team in their future endeavors. :hug:

I like Andy because he plays Blur songs.

Also, what would Prymaxe body spray smell like? Savings?
