Not really. The ammo cans were selling for like $385 new from perfect circuit audio. Price gouged units have been listing for over $500 now.

The puffs of smoke that occasionally waft by throughout the vid need to be part of the instruction manual.

Sounds a bit 'smoother' than the ammo can version to my ears? Not necessarily in a bad way. Also he fixed the clocking so it doesn't freak out when you change speed! Will allow for a different kind of performance with these ones. Nice!

That'd make it an LFO'd filter that could also drone with/for you. Now it's a standalone box and if you have it on your board it's no longer a drone box, it's just a filter. Sounds great though.
Excuse my extremely limited electronics knowledge, but the oscillators disconnect when you plug a jack into the input right? So that would mean it's a 'switching jack'? Surely you could cut the wire to the switch pin on the jack and wire it up to a normal switch or a second stomp as a mod for keeping them on if you choose? :idk:
I'd definitely want that if it was possible.

True. I'm still on honeymoon mode with my ammo can so it seems totally worth it to me. Realistically it is an expensive thing to have to mod though yeah.

I was thinking about exploring the whole Euro/modular thing just so I could get the DC2. Now they've gone and fucked my entire life plan.

Yeah, me too. Pretty enamored by modular but it is a deep dark hole to jump in to. Was also considering the standalone DC2.

I'm trying to control my dive into modular. Smallish setup, based around Grendel, Muskrat, maybe a WMD Geiger Counter, some noise generators. Limit myself to what I could fit into a Rast, nothing more.

Of course now I'm thinking Grendel pedal and the euro version... :picard:

I was considering the dc2 standalone too til I found an ammo can. I managed to stave off jumping into eurocrack when I realised there's a whole world of other stuff out there that can be interfaced together and is much cheaper and more versatile. Beatstep pro and sq-1's etc for sequencing and format conversions (midi/cv/triggers),, the bastl gear for cheap standalone synths with plenty of crosspatchability with Ciat Lonbarde and cv capable pedals, drum voice pedals, the double knot synth.
Many things are more than they seem, C-L tetrax is 4 individually tappable oscillators for raw audio or lfo rate modulators, cv push/release signals. Double knot is another 2 individual oscillators and a rungler sequencer and modulatable clock source, softpop will be another modulation source and stereo filter and sequencer etc.

The great thing about these instruments is they are amazing on their own, you can buy at your own pace and don't need to outlay a tonne just to get a basic setup going. I feel the new drone commander is in the same vein.

Same. Instead of modular I found myself entering into a tabletop setup sort of naturally. Have a Drumbrute, found an Ottobit Jr makes it sound awesome, then this Drone Commander pedal and a Stereo Field on the way. Plus pedlols that don't stay at my feet. :yay:

if i was a touring dude, i would hands down sell my original.
something just tells me that an ammo can full of electronics gets taken apart quite often in this day and age...

thankfully i don't need to fly with it.

The Grendel filter is a bitchin module though.

It arrived Friday. Spent too many hours already droning out. Clock out synced to Drumbrute: https://www.instagram.com/p/BYPJQXyBWuO ... detocontra

Adjusting the LFO to slow will still cause weird freakouts which I can see on the display of the Drumbrute, changes from 47 to 220 to 18. Pretty funny.

Nice! So it still freaks on lfo speed changes? What about when you change the pulse division?
