Infinity was always for the "and everything else" - since some of us use outboard gear etc.

Can probably blame me for it, I complained about not being able to put a rig in context a few years back (since I use rack/outboard gear plus a pedalboard, which means the pedalboard makes no sense on its own since it's 90% dirt boxes.

"Infinity" doesn't turn apples into oranges, it just means a fuckton of fucktons of oranges.

Replace apples by racks and oranges by pedals if you're not sure where I'm going with this.

Effectively, a board is a signal chain of various pedals and effects.

Effects haven't always been pedals, and never will be.

At the same time, can control all those outboard toys *with* pedals if your feet still work.

Mine don't.

If you use an instrument of any kind through it or even if it's a noisemaker set up, it's still a board. As much as I want to win (I actually don't care lol), I'd never say "bro! Your shit ain't no board"! No, I'm more like "bro, how the fuck did you make that and can you make one for me"?

This is not about winning. I didn't submit anything in this category. And for the record that rack is fucking badass.

Maybe there shouldn't be an imaginary category since it appears y'all's pedalboard definition is imaginary.

I mean, I agree with you on one level, but on another level I don't. I submitted a noise board last year. It was essentially like the above but in pedal form. Never used an instrument with it. The only difference was it was a flat board. UC has a desktop set up. I know he uses it for multiple things, so I wouldn't call it less of a board. Plus Jean has his board and some of those buttons look impossible to hit like they are as well, but it's still a killer set up.

I have rack stuff, and a board (which isn't used *as a board*, just a convenient place for pedals to live and a switcher that's MIDI controlled along with much of the rest of my stuff.

On the good days I can use one foot, I need very low-profile switches and stuff that's not the standard ol' mechanical switch.

You're complaining about how things have been here for years - it's far better now than it used to be after a few years of iteration on 'what goes where.'

I played by the rules at the time, and then brought up the issues.

I'll never, ever win - simply because I don't use a single one of the flavors of the month and don't care about cosmetics. I want the sonic motherfucking apocalypse though.

#15 is absolutely a board. There are pedals fastened onto a "board" and you can use it just like you would a flat pedalboard on the ground sans stepping on them. There are instruments in the picture too but if I were him I'm not about to take them all off for a picture. Part of the appeal is the setup.

Anyways, I heart that "board"
