That'd be a great name for a pedal.

Read that one, IJ, Against the Day, A Frolic of his Own, and Underworld for a single class...Professor was nuts. Was late to class a lot, bragged about how one time it was because a cop suspected he was drinking (I did, too).

So what does this pedal even do?
That is a great (and brutal) reading list.
I can't imagine doing all those books for one class. I enjoyed Gravity's Rainbow a bit. Stole a bit for a lyric in an old band. Haven't finished or started any of the others. Picked up Underworld at a goodwill years ago. Someday, man.

Majoring in writing in undergrad had a weird affect on me and I've been just nose deep into fantasy. I'm escaping reality at all costs.

I hear that. Curious to know about the lifetime reading habits of English/Journallism/Creative Writing types after they finish a field of study.

So now we have the 'what are you reading' thread; the book club thread, and the Infinite Jets thread.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I want a shimverb named "The Floating Opera." I'd keep it on the part of my board closest to the audience, turned the other way round so everyone could see the title, but I'd never use it....

He's talented but he doesn't really do it for me on the whole. That said I don't think I've started and finished one of his pieces so I can't really comment beyond that.

I think the only time I read 'serious' literature now is when I travel (or am otherwise stuck somewhere sitting for sustainable chunks of time -- laundromat, etc.) Otherwise there's roughly a dozen other things that are clamoring for attention during the day, so my reading at home is typically shorter form: non fiction collections, plays, short stories, etc.

I love comics. Like actually "love" them like I do pedals. I got a bit bummed about newer stuff by the big two (Marvel and DC.). All the "cross over" arcs were getting out of hand. The last big thing I followed was the "Infinity" arc. Luckily with comics you can always just go back in time and find stuff. The lesser known publishers still produce awesome stuff. I was really into Life Zone for a while but per everything, lost interest when it became "popular".

His books are pretty long too so I can't even recommend something to you without it being like 500 pages.

So keeping it "on topic" the only time I heard the term "resynth" was with a seppuku pedal. Is the concept of resynthing just messing with your envelope? Apologies if this is prerequisite knowledge.

I loved SAGA. I was super big on Image Comics for the longest time.

Hands down my favorite too. Him and Paul Pope. Two completely different styles. I loved THE WAKE. It helps I'm big on Scott Snyder too.

Regarding Lemire, loved SWEET TOOTH. Except the last issue. Whoever reads SWEET TOOTH, avoid that last issue at all costs. So if there were 66, read up to 65 and say "oh that was cool" and move on to your next series. Holy shit that last one sucked.

100 BULLETS is probably my all time favorite series. I read the whole 100 or so issues three times.

But this is coming from someone who loves YOUNGBLOOD and the art of Rob Liefeld so take what I say with a grain of salt or whatever.
