I didn't read all this thread. Well, I may have, but I've read it over days and never really say down to put my thoughts in order coz instead I had chicks on kik sending me selfies and that seemed more important. But now they're not, so I can weigh in and no doubt that's what people have been waiting for.

As much as I loathe Trent Reznor (I always figured that the production team on Pretty Hate Machine did most of the work considering I coudl hear alot of the same sounds on old Tackhead Sound System albums, and it was the same guys), I think you're over-reacting.. Based on the few lines of text I read in the OP article, he's right.

Most of what's out there is shit because it's never been easlier to make music before, you don't even have to know how to play an insturment. For everyone who's doing something interesting, groundbreaking, or just fresh there's a thousand guys with Fruity Loops (or whatever) shitting out dubstep. I don't do hiphop to have a clear grounding in that, but it's absolutely filled to the fucking brim with shitty SoldierBoys Tell'Ems for every guy out there who's really doing something new, and then there's countless fucking cover songs, ukelele bullshit artists and fuckknows what else clogging up Youtube with their "art."

That's the shit he's decrying. Not the cat in his basement who's pouring heart and soul into his soundscapes, or the ones cutting heartfelt originals, but the shit that's just overwhelmingly taken over the Internet.

I wanted to find Morrissey covers the other day to annoy my wife with. I searched through over 9000 fucking idiots with acoustic guitars and ukeleles doing Smiths covers for every one actual artist doing osmething. Seriously, go read a dadrock thread around here and then come back and re-read the OP article, you'll agree.

Also, I see there's a disturbing lack of Gary Clail's Tackhead Sound System on Youtube. That's a real shame.
