Which is a thoroughly decent thing but the reality is that Tym gets his dollars worth when you buy from him direct.
Seriously, his shit is ridiculously expensive and most of that has to do with being located in Australia and having a shop to maintain in the Valley and staff to pay, but there's still a pretty large cut on that stuff. Unless you Americans are getting half price deals or something.

Sure but that wasn't the funny part about bringing him up as a guy who doesn't monitor his secondary market. :animal:

And it definitely wasn't the funny part about a double post.

I've been following this builder's social media for a bit over a year and have definitely seen some of these outbursts from him. Most of them seem to have been the result of morons/assholes not paying attention to his wait times and expectations his gives on the website. I work for a online company that sells music gear and deal with people like that on a daily basis and can understand the frustration that comes from repeatedly dealing with morons. Talking shit about someone who tries to fuck you based on their own ignorance is pretty justified. This post from him is definitely a bit of a different situation though. I can understand his anger towards someone if they are purposely buying his products on sale to flip later on. I'd argue that is definitely some borderline fraudulent shit, especially if you are trying to do that repeatedly. But hey, free market economy and all there is not much you can do to keep people from taking advantage of a good deal. The interaction I had with him when he goofed up my order was nothing but stellar, he had a new pedal out to me within the week. Personally he seems like a solid dude that builds solid pedals of equal quality/wait time to other builders, but also gets frustrated when people try to fuck with his business. Seems kind of hard to blame someone too much for others stupidity/shadiness. At the end of the day people are going to buy and sell whatever they want so its not like any of it really matters too much.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've said this elsewhere and will say it again as apparently it has not been illustrated enough. When you sell a product you are no longer in control of what is done with that product. It is in fact the consumers prerogative to do whatever they see fit with that product. They can buy and sell them all day long if they want, that is their decision. If you as a seller have sales and don't expect some people to take advantage of that fact, then you are an idiot. I'm sorry, but stop funding your poor business venture with sales. That's what's going on. It's obviously. The equation is as such.

Sell shit on sale. Buy shit the seller wants/pay bills or whatever. Realize they don't have the funds to build the pedals they just sold. Have another sale to pay for previous batch. Rinse and repeat.

I've seen numerous builders do this over and over again. It's very bad business, just like talking shit on your customers. For one, who the fuck has time to keep track of what a customer does with their product? Number two, who gives a flying fuck? Why should it matter to him after he's made the initial sale?

If it's an ethical issue, well then run an ethical business. Otherwise expect people to do what they do.

Some posts from the builder on his facebook:
Little tip: You can avoid our wait times by purchasing a used pedal on eBay / Reverb but keep in mind that any warranty a pedal has is void if you aren't the original owner. A typical repair charge is $50 which will probably bring you back to what it would originally cost.
A couple reminders - if you haven't gotten an email with tracking info, your order isn't done. The backup is hitting 6-9 weeks at this point so please bear with me.

Also, small businesses can't stay afloat if everyone only buys when there is a sale. If this trend continues we will no longer have sales EVER. If you find the chance to spare the $20-40 you'd save during a sale and support a small company please try to buy during normal times
He lowered the price $15 but still paid $166 for it - regardless it is what it is, the dude isn't a bad person for doing it, just stuff like this pisses me off when I'm busting my ass to get orders out only to have them put up for more than they paid
I want to make it clear that people can do whatever they want with what they buy! This is literally just a personal thing for me
I understand selling something because you need money but flipping it for full price as soon as they get it (it's literally one of the very last pedals I built) after I take a hit to offer stuff to people at a discount just pisses me off, again, on a personal level
Also including all the free stickers I put in tells me they have no interest in it to begin with, I would have kept those!
Seems fairly reasonable to me (although, again, maybe not something I'd put up on FB)

He should make people jump through hoops if they wanna buy pedals. Like literally jump through hoops. And upload that shit to YouTube. :snax:
