The drummer for Silversun Pickups keeps his crash pretty up there. At least he used to. I haven't been able to like anything after Carnavas so I don't know if he's changed his setup.

I tend to dig the tappy stuff. I have and will continue to listen to the hell out of this album, and it makes for great running music once you figure out the tempo changes.

Everytime I see Stainer's cymbal, I always think of A.C. Slayer, & vice versa :D

I kinda see the point of this thread (KINDA), & I'm glad Battles is/was even a thing, but I wish more people ripped off Bastro instead (they probably did, but I am lazy so :joy:):

Bastro are the fucking epitome of everything and I rarely, if ever, see other bands giving them a nod. They're actually so hard to rip off though, those dudes had really weird/unique technique.

will check it out, thanks :)
I'm getting Slint and MAINLY Don Cab vibes out of this

which you could say is the same as Battles because of the Don Cab-Battles connection... but it's not :idk: I mean yeah, but... it's not. There were bands that came before Battles which I see much more influential :idk:

for the record - I like that record, thanks :) although I wish the bass sounded a little different

NERD GLASSES ON, BATTLE MODE ENGAGED.

Yeah I think you're probably right, but this has slightly more of that 'robots skipping on acid' vibe that I associate with battles, beyond the mathy stuff.

When I was young & the only thing was the record store, I remember going to see them on their first tour, not knowing anything about their other bands, & it felt exactly like this:

Wish more bands would conduct elaborate photo shoots in moving vehicles more often, or at least pretend to (those were the days).

I can't stand that their records are OOP, or why Drag City only pressed a few batches when they reissued them (Bastro is for the children :hobbes: ), but that shit is hard! Grubbs was always like that, I think, even later on.

Are there actually any post-rock bands kicking around anymore? It seems like it's dying/died off with a lot of other stuff that was big in 2007 (along with just about anything that has guitars in it).
