Edit: psyvam so it was you who commented that one time I mentioned "White Rum" from Black Ash Dub. Couldn't remember who but I was just as surprised as you! That was my first proper dub plate...Sly & Robbie/Revolutionaries fav Jamaican rhythm section. Riddim section? W/E so funky.

YES! White Rum holds the honor of being one of my favorite bass lines of all time. I can still remember the first time i figured it out on bass how pumped i was. Actually, it just might be my absolute favorite.

One day i want to make a dub band that only does covers of anarcho-punk songs, and call it Riddimentary Peni.

While i do love a good Leftover Crack reference, i'm sober, so it would be a weird band name to perform under. Plus, bassist, gotta rep the rhythm section in your band name, otherwise why are you dub?

If anyone wants to get real crazy, try this out. It's a test pattern with extra switches to allow you to turn it into a soda meiser or hyperion, and of course various in-between bastardizations.

I did a pretty sweet 1590B pcb layout for this and was thinking of selling a few here but, after re-reading Tom's forum rules about selling clones, changed my mind (the issue being that the Soda Meiser and Hyperion are both in-production pedals by a small builder). A couple may find their way into existence somehow though.

The TP has been out of production since its original run. Nobody wanted to do it when DE wasn't running the show, and it's still not flying.

It's why I posted the schems for the Test Pattern from Hell that I had built for me a couple years back with a built-in starve and other fun.

I saw that the circuit for the Soda Meiser was all there, so I added a bypass of the input stage to allow the pedal to be used that way (MODE switch). Then added more to get to Hyperion.

I mean, it's ok for Devi to modify a Soda Meiser and add a Silver Crank input stage and call it a Test Pattern, but anyone else is just selling a modified Soda Meiser clone.

You could build one with just Mode, Test, and Chaos switch, if you don't need it to do Hyperion. Now that I think about it, I like the simplicity of that. In that case, add the mode switch, you can just use an on-on switch for chaos like you would do in a regular Soda Meiser, instead of the three position. And the rest of the circuit would be like the stock Test Pattern schem I posted.

To explain the chaos switching: the test pattern is in chaos mode (100n feedback cap removed). You put the 100n cap back in for regular soda meiser operation. or you take that 100n cap and put it from the emitter to ground for the hyperion arrangement. That's what my three position spdt does. So you don't need the hyperion arrangement if you do three switch version, just cap connected in feedback or not.

These are all just notes for possible future tinkerers. This forum gets a lot of views, you know?

Keep in mind the stock original TP has no chaos switch etc. It was a glaring omission my guess is for sheer laziness - the original came out at the time there was a surplus of some PCBs and the production was shifting to the SMD stuff, and I suspect that no two are exactly identical.

I'm happy with the 2.0 I had whipped up but it's a lot more touchy to dial in stuff (and has a LOT more there than the original) especially with the sag circuit and the addition of the noise switch in addition to the chaos one.

We did a composite of some of the various SM schems that were out at the time to come up with the crazy.
